Off to bed in just a moment. I promised myself I'd get to bed TODAY and not after midnight.

Chris goes back to work tomorrow after having been home for 5 days. It has been good. Family time can be very challenging here. Chris has depression issues that exhibit as irritability and self-hatred, neither of which mix really well with the generally 'all over the place' nature of normal, curious, naturally seeing which boundaries can be pushed, children.

But this time, these 5 days, we seemed to all do well together. So I'll miss him and the simple presence of another adult in the house this week.

My daughter (ie youngest child) has recently weaned. She turns 3 next month and I was dry so we did the gently-replacing sleep associations dance. And that has worked well too. She'll now let Chris help her get to sleep...because she's not expecting to nurse. This has helped immensely because I'm a night-owl and hate going to bed early. So Whinnie and her papa get to sleep early and I get to stay up late and read to the boys and then after they are off to bed, I get to knit while watching something online. It's been great.

Not sure why I'm including all this detail. I guess it is because I've been so busy lately that I'm not posting much.

Still reading everything....just busy with holiday gift making and, um, life.

Oh you betcha I can have a soak in the pool without having all 3 kids splashing my face & being loud, and wrap gifts without worrying about someone wandering out of bed (we have the 'drink of water?, go to the toilet"? connor won't quit talking!' visits for an hour or so after they go to bed lol) and just generally relax. It will be BLISS... love my boys, but I don't get a break NEARLY often enough. OH, and I can even call their brothers in the states without being interrupted a gazillion times! Last day of the Barefoot sale so I'll be busy working at home for much of the day.
I also have to drop off a Pampered Chef order which will give me a bit of a break from working and cleaning.

I put up my tree last night. It took a LONG time to shape the branches and all that. When I was done, my arms were sooo sore. It was quite a workout! lol
Haven't decorated it yet. Ds wants to do that today.

Luckily my midwife did a labor check on me the night before and got everything set up so we were ready to go Monday night. It was a really good birth. I didn't really experience a transition period (in terms of pain or emotionally) and DH was awesome support, as were my midwives at the birth.

She's a cutie. She was 8 lbs 2 oz and 20 inches. She's also a super-nurser. She nursed an hour of her first 3 hours - and then slept for 6 hours. Wow!!

Hope you are all doing well. Back to babe-snuggling for me.

Good to know about ordering Barefoot from Canada. We have lots of Usborne dealers, but I've never seen a Barefoot display. It would be fun to give something a little different for birthdays, and less non-fictiony.

Haven't done a weather report for a while now. Hovering around freezing, light snow, still dark, icy roads....

I was up for three (3) hours in the night with an insomniac 3 yr old kicking me. Haven't felt so tired and touched out in a while. I wasn't in charge of putting him to bed but whatever time daddy got him down, it was too early.

Where is that emoticon? Gonna need mutiple cups this morning.

weather- cold and hovering right at freezing so it rains, then ices, then rains, etc. Last night it poured buckets (dh had to go out at 4am to gather tools he'd left outside since it wasn't supposed to rain and was crystal clear when we went to bed.

Kiki the cat- ran at full speed back and forth and back and forth and back and forth for about an hour last night. No clue what it was about and hopefully it wont repeat... she woke Tor a few times and he is sleeping pretty poorly right now. Sniffles and teething mean sleep is short.

decorations- need a needle for felting (mine broke ) so I can finish my solstice calendar. I have the yule cards started, holiday photos taken and soon to be printed (this and this are my favs, but we're using this one since the kiddos are more "there"), pulled the holiday box from the shed but need to go through it, and stockings are started but nowhere near done.

Yay for date night! I can't wait till Tor is a bit older... I start feeling ok with longer seperations around a year and ok with "whole day" seperations around 2 years and since Tor is our last little I'm looking forward to the days when the kiddos can go to grandma's! The last movie dh and I saw in a theatre was Pirates of the Caribbean III, shortly before Ro was born!

OK. I need to get back into the swing of things around here. We all had a nice break, and my first Thanksgiving at my own house went great. I'm excited about the holidays. My goal is simple but spread out.

Um..I'm not sure if you've owned (been owned by?) kittens before... but they rather have a tendency to go SPAZZZZZ during the night LOL. But they do grow out of it

Wow and hello strangers. It's been a madhouse around here, and then we went back to KC for Thanksgiving week. Drove 14 hrs yesterday to get back and I'm just wiped the heck out!

Congrats on the new kitty - she's adorable! Welcome to the world little Wren! Maia, I'm SO glad that things were everything you hoped they'd be. I was worried and delighted that worry was for nothing! And hurray for date nights and anniversaries and having husbands home for a few days! (Hugs to anyone who needs them as always.)

We finally made it to the PUC meeting. They have this awesome Solstice celebration, last year there were over 60 people in the circle. They also have kids activities planned the entire day. DH and I are very excited!

While in KC we braved the crowds for the Black Friday sales. Guess TRU opened at midnight and a couple tried to line-jump. The police told them to get to the back of the line, the lady cussed him out, he told her to just leave and she started to physically attack the cop! At that point they had 4 cars there and she ended up tazered and going to jail. About an hour later they closed the store because of all the fights breaking out. Seriously NO toy is worth that! (Thankfully we were NOT there this year!) Just unbelievable.

We're doing ok over here, just recovering from the loooong trip. It's normally only 10 hrs, but my dad wanted us to stop by to pick up gifts for the kids. He always picks out the stuff for DS and lets his wife pick out stuff for DD - which is great except his wife refuses to spend any money on anyone but her dd. I honestly don't mind if she got something at a garage sale or whatever, but please don't get the children something that's broken, unsafe or highly age inappropriate. So DS is getting a nice metal detector, and DD is getting a (seriously I kid you not) 20+ yr old box full of different watch bands to interchange. She's 5 and doesn't have the dex to change watch bands and um, can't tell time yet! Oh and she's getting a lightweight adult sized scarf/hat/mitten set (it's big on ME)to counter the plush robe and slippers DS is getting. Sigh.

This week I'm scrambling to get as much sewing and baking done as possible, but I should definitely be around more! Take care to all!
