I too, love the water joy/concern idea. I think I might steal it for our RE! We were using electric tea lights instead...

I am on my laptop right now in a darkened room with three two-yr-olds, as the reminder that they are supposed to be laying on their cots to sleep. It is my busy day. I have kept my cool so far -- easier to lose it with your own chlldren -- but I'm feeling that full moon crabbiness vibe for sure. I'm relieved to think that it is just the full moon. I have been pretty unreasonably impatient with EVERYONE the past couple of days. Hope it wears off soon. I tried tapping and that broke a foul cycle of snapping at my middle child yesterday.

I have two of my long time p/t clients leaving me over the next 6 weeks and I am surprised to be very happy to reduce my workload. Have to stop spending money on trifles and eating out and tighten the belt a little so I can carry on without replacing them. I need more energy and time just for my boys, I do.

Had a lovely date with the full moon yesterday -- it was mostly cloudy and even foggy, but the moon was still out clearly. The moisture in the air made it glow -- we are usually low humidity here, so pretty special, did a ritual and started a journal so I can remember the details (not going to call it a Book of Shadows. Maybe "Spirituality Management Binder"?) I've already got a resources portfolio going for notes from these interlibrary loan books and from the internet...

Thanks for the reminder about leaving stones out in the moonlight. I've been meaning to do so, but have been forgetting. I went into an old jewelry box where I've had some crystals and stones and semiprecious stone rings stowed away for a decade or so. I was shocked to feel the energy on them, even as I scooped them up out of the box. I have seriously never felt anything like that. Maybe being locked away for so long did it? Maybe the tapping has opened me up to the energies of the stones? Have to go find the Pagan stone and crystals camp thread and read some more (there must be one).

Anyway, I won't bore you with the rest of the details, but it was a satisfying interlude, the moon was beautiful, and I ended up being moved to meditate in a direction that was different than the plan I started with. I collected some bits of plants for a spell potpourri and left them out with the stones all night. And they were crackling with energy this morning, too!

Me too. I don't know if I'd like to dust them, though.

It'd be fun to design a dream house all properly feng-shui'd with a special room for each season....maybe a doll house or fairy garden space...

I didn't multiquote this one, but I think saphire's idea of switching mostly to the more conservative practice and going to the copacetic practice when you really need to is brilliant. Their names have me I have a dr named Lung, but he works with a completely different area of the body.

s femme rouge. I know where you're coming from.

My mom was a pianist for a church that did a production, oratorio style, rather than dramatic, of Jesus Christ Superstar back in the mid-70s. They didn't have sheet music so she and the choir director met at our house listened to the soundtracks over and over and over and wrote out the music for it. I can actually very clearly "listen" to any of the songs of the original soundtrack in my head -- used to "play" it to myself to help me fall asleep when I was a kid. No musical talent in me, it only works with this one soundtrack.

Like the pebbles in water idea. Makes me think of the fable of the raven and the pitcher, too. I have some nice smooth stones, from ikea and dollar stores and old aquariums --- wonder if I could set something like that up for the children, without, as you say aweynsayl, floods everywhere. I have an aquarium which I now feel sure is too small for any interesting fish... maybe I could adapt that.

Hi everyone!

I've missed this thread but it's been super busy around here. I've been getting closer to a farmer friend who was recently widowed and I had her over this afternoon to make mozzarella and ricotta cheeses. And I pitched my chickn idea to ehr and she LOVED it. So next spring, I'm going to be a proud mama to 50 baby chickens. 4-H here we come!

DOK, Elfland showed up for me today. I can't wait for bed tonight. Reading the back jacket makes me want to go to bed right now!

Yule... oy. We're there already? I have actually already started shopping for DD. She's getting another American Girl doll and pets. That's the extent of my Yule planning so far.

Chickenpox and shingles?? Oh no!!

And Nicole, it's good to see you in here. I wish for a peace-filled heart for you right now.

Evening mamas. Hugs and good vibes to all who are in need.

Clay, I hear you on finding a new doctor. It's so hard to find one you feel hears you and you're not just a number. I hope the new office is a place that you and your family feel at home.

Hazel: Good luck!

I tell you mamas this full moon has done wonders for me. I feel so calm and centered. I have made a few decisions for my life and I don't have my usual questioning self trying to talk me out of it. I think I am happy to be me. I feel more positive than I have in a long time.

And Saturday hours would rock my multi child world since DH could come too.

I guess the underlying question is "how much is a shared philosophy worth?".
YIKES at the cost of that!!! No wonder the US health care system is such a disaster. 300bucks for them to call in a script is highway robbery. Here if I go in for the longest consult available, it's about 90bucks. And I can claim half of that back thru medicare & get it in 3 days. It really is crawp that it has to come down to a choice of health care you can afford, or health care that you are comfortable with!

Oh my... hehehe. It'd be rather hard not to giggle every time I saw their sign lol.

I'm sitting here planning out what we're going to do during the holidays, what gifts I want to get the boys (we have a wii on layby for the whole family but I like to do a few special things for each... plus stocking of course! Best get off my rear and get to work with the boys lol.

Cari- I don't want to leave you out of the Yule card sending- is there anyway you would want to participate- I have an idea, so if you would like to chat about it, catch me on facebook or here.

Yule Card list-Ok- list is ready, sending it in pm soon.
I had a thought- my kids enjoy receiving mail, I bet yours does to- would the kids like to do an exchange? We could swap the names of the kids, so we aren't send so many cards. Just a thought
post #90 of 641
Do you guys ever do online rituals? I was just thinking back and around 8 years ago a group I was on did a couple of these. I didnt think it would be very spiritual, but they totally were!

(also totally excited about the yule card exchange, but as I am such a sporadic poster here, I missed the "rules"...could someone let me know)
Aeress- I just sent a reply to the PM with the same "my kids love getting/sending mail, how about kiddie cards?" thought!

Cari- yup. Until a year or so ago our family practice took our insurance and it was a 20 dollar per visit co-pay. Then they dropped our insurance and we had to go out of pocket. Oh my lordy lords the sheer cost of some things is insane! And we don't get much if anything reimbursed. I almost died when we got the mastitis bill... which didn't even include the cost of the abx. I mean, they didn't do anything but call the pharmacy and ok the meds! They never saw me, they didn't do a follow up, I'm the one who made the diagnosis/called them/did the footwork. Ah well.

At our current practice the office staff have dropped the "dr" honorific so when you arrive they ask "are you here for Selin or Loehr?". I'm guessing the office staff at this other practice don't do that! (though to be honest, Cochs and Kuntz are not the only drs... it's a big group practice with 20+ providers. C and K are the peds.)

online rituals- hmmm... we've had coordinated candle lightings, and coordinated meditation, but not actual ritual. I also participated many years ago in a "cyber coven" that used IIRC chat services to cast huge circles. it was an interesting experience!

I did a few many years ago, back in the old mIRC chat days lol. We had a regular channel with a group of regulars that all got to know each other very well (one was a dear friend that came to visit me & my now dh in cali when he flew over from Aussie . Some of them were very special experiences

JUST ridiculous for them to bill you that much for doing almost literally nothing.

Hehehe I'm guessing not! At the clinic we go to, the docs are all the first name sort There's Sarah, and Fran, and John and Kenny (who my boys see), and Man Ying whom *I* have seen too much of with all this pneumonia junk! lol Then again australian life is just way more laid back in general

I just got home from my monthly splurge, having my nails done No, not even close to 'natural' but I love pretty nails with art hehehe. Hubby & the older two watched Prince Caspian while I was out, the little dude crashed on the floor We've had to resort to air conditioning today, it's hot!

Maiasaura, remember I said 31C to you on fb chat?? Well it topped out at 37C today.. or 99F *wilts* NOT cool since the first day of summer isn't till December 1 lol. By mid January I'll be threatening to move to Tasmania

Morning mamas. It's cold here this morning, around 29 and windy! Today I am going to pick up 4 more chickens from a neighbor who had some animal kill over 20 in a few hours. Today is also laundry day (yuck) and grocery shopping. My DH and I use this time as a date, we stroll the isles and chit chat.
Dh and I used to go grocery shopping together. We both enjoyed it. Have fun

Clay- the drs names are too funny! I bet there's all kinds of good insider jokes.

It's currently 27F with a high of 56F. Brrrr! But the full moon is still lovely in the morning.

I'm prepping a chakra workshop, in between homeschool and TPOC. Soon!

DoK, our DS is the type that would beg for a satin robe as well. Good for you for planning on taking him to get one. If the store associates don't like it, well they don't have to look!

WombatClay, I hate dealing with doctor's offices. I have to say that $300 seems very extreme though. Regardless if you switch or not, have you called and talked with the office manager about getting that charge reduced? For crying out loud all they did was make a phone call!

Well friends, I am so livid right now I can't see straight. We relocated up here in the middle of August. We had come up about a month before to find a place to live, and while our rented duplex isn't ever going to grace House Beautiful or something, it's very livable. Flooring is old and needs replaced, but overall I've hung my hat in a LOT worse places. So, we're in Wisconsin. It gets pretty cold here, so one requirement for a place to live was a fireplace - which up here is easy to find. We spent $120 on a cord and half of wood. Yesterday we started a fire and really kicked it up (we've done a small 3 piece layout here and there, but not kept it going). The ENTIRE BASEMENT filled up with wood smoke!! HOW is that possible, the fireplace is on the main level! But it looks like there's some type of pipe that runs from the fireplace box to the furnace? No idea. Here's the kicker - the landlord KNEW about this! According to our neighbor, the previous residents complained about it and the landlord had people out to check it but nothing was ever done. We have 2 people in the house with tendencies towards lung issues (bronchitis, pneumonia) which the landlord KNEW about and he never even WARNED us! Not to mention if we can't use it then we're out the money for the wood! DH and I were almost killed by a fireplace flu collapsing when I was 5 months pregnant with DS, and oh, yeah, wood smoke contains carbon monoxide among other things, so this isn't something we play around with! Gaaahhhh!!! I'll be hand delivering a letter regarding this to the landlord today and it had BETTER be fixed and SOON!

On the more positive side, things are looking more promising on the job front. LOL we don't need both of us to be working, but at least one would be nice! I had an interview with a placement agency yesterday (we had the perfect job for you 2 weeks ago, sigh) and received a call last night from someone with a consulting agency. Not my ideal positions, but hey, it's work!

DH has started getting cold since last night, which is never a good sign. I have a feeling we're about to see the flu again. Hopefully it will be as mild for him as it was for me!

Ok off to break out the poison pen! Hope everyone has a great day!

I just wanted to pop in and say I have been reading but responding is all but impossible.

I am essentially running the office alone these days due to illness, staff cuts (good riddance) and telecommuting (boogers, wish I could do that ). And by the time I get home, all I want to do is deal with my FB games (all of 15 mins.) and then forget I own a computer until the morning.

I think of ya'll all the time and even have a MDC pagan circle candle on my altar. So I am here in spirit, even if I can't contribute to the chatter.

Samhain/ToT was quiet but nice day all around. Not even thinking of Yule for a few more weeks, although we are trying to figure out where to put the tree (new place) I say living room, DP says attic.
Hang in there Indigo!

Sunshine- YIKES! There must be some sort of safety law. Especially if the place was advertised with a fireplace. I wish we could get the bill reduced, but I called on a weekend (isn't that always when medical stuff happens?) and since they don't offer weekend hours "standard" we got hit with the "after hours/on call" rate. Since we've been clients for 5+ years they billed us for the "visit" instead of taking a credit card number up front. Their policy for people without insurance is payment in full up front. Their out of pocket rates are in line with this region though.

weather- cold here too... mid 30s with heavy frost this morning, snow last night and mroe snow expected today.

Good Morning,

45 F here. We're having an unusual warm streak again. It was almost 70 yesterday, so we were out at the park and very warm. When we got home, the kids stripped down and played in the garden. I told them to soak up every ray possible. We have a long rainy season here.

Oh! just to add, we went to our first UU service on Sunday. I really liked the part of sharing joys and concerns by putting a pebble into the water. I might use that as a daily practice. Lots of sharing with the whole congregation and very welcoming. I think we will be going back. Sadly, the RE program is pretty small (ie no one) but they are hoping it grows again (it was once really hopping!).
Sorry about the computer troubles. That can be so inconvenient,
I also really like the pebble/water idea. I have a water fountain on my alter and I'd like to incorporate the idea somehow; although, it's already "rippling" so I'm not sure yet.

You taught musical theater, right? Did you perform too? I was raised by parents who started a light opera co. There were operas and musicals in the air at all times.

Aubergine- I loved reading about your full moon experiences. Thanks for sharing about it. So, you have full moon crabbiness? This is a new idea for me. It's nothing I've noticed before (but I've never specifically paid attention), and my "freak out" on Monday was during the Full Moon. Hm...Not that that was the reason, but I wonder if it may have intensified the experience.

I wish I had the experience of being calm and centered instead of energetic, but pretty edgey Today I'm going to try to channel the "energetic" I'm still feeling into something productive.

Dp and have have the same date sometimes.

Ok, I started this post a couple hours ago. I didn't get to respond to all I wanted to, but I need to get on with things. Check in later.

Is it really hump day already???
I've asked this elsewhere but am not getting any replies...
Does anyone live in a place with old fashioned radiators? I found an inexpensive apartment but it has really old radiators. From what I remember, they don't heat rooms well and oil is very expensive.
Any opinions (from your experience)??

You should have heard the remarks I got. What UAV's people are.
Didn't get one because, even on sale, it was just too expensive.
Wish I had a sewing machine, I'd make one. (he doesn't want a blanket or anything else out of the fabric)
