No Poo Dandruff and Itchies!!

I've been no-pooing for about 6 or 7 months. My hair is normally on the drier end of things, so I never had that 'breaking in' period. But now that the weather is getting drier so is my scalp. Granted, a few years ago I had problems with scaling and sehboreah (I can't spell that) and what cleared it up was tea tree oil and keeping my scalp dry.

What can I do to solve this? I currently use bs wash and acv rinse about 2x a week. I've heard of honey and of course, the tea tree oil, but how do you actually use them? I mean, application, when during the washing process? I'm a type A personality, so I'm not very creative at these sort of things.

Thanks!

Could you be using the bs too often? That'll give you a flakey scalp. Try not to do it until your hair is actually greasy (if that even happens for you--you said you have dry hair), but not necessarily embarassingly greasy. I wait to do mine when i won't leave the house with it looking the way it does. You could try using less bs, as well.

Don't know about the honey, but the TTO you can just add to the bs/water mixture. I've heard better things about rosemary in regards to dry scalp, and have tried it myself.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for responding. I'll see if I can find rosemary, I like the smell anyway.

How much TTO to add? I've done the bs and tto together in water and poured it over my head, but I think I'm adding too much tto, my hair gets greasy. Yuk.

Is there anything I can rinse my hair with inbetween washes to sort of freshen it up a bit? My hair never really gets greasy, per-say, just sort of limp and not nice. KWIM? I suppose if I waited long enough it might, but then that would just be nasty.

The book "Curly Girl" by Lorainne Massey has a bunch of recipes for natural hair rinses to help with things like this. My copy is around here somewhere... I'll look. Perhaps your library has one?

I would try using less BS or more water. Or more ACV in your rinse.

Honey really made my hair greasy-looking, so you could definitely try that. I can't remember how much I used - maybe less than a teaspoon into the BS/water mixture.
