how often do you have bread/rolls with dinner? - Page 2

We only have bread/biscuits/cornbread/etc. when we eat a soup or stew as our main meal - maybe twice a month? We also occasionally do sandwiches for dinner, which obviously use bread.

I used to say a lot less frequently. Maybe once a week, if that.

But, recently, I've really been trying to make sure that there is at least one component of supper that everyone likes. And, for my very picky 3 year old, that component is often bread. Bread and salad with one brand of Italian dressing. God love him.

Once or twice a month? There are certain things we make that bread "goes with" at our house - a beef and vegetable soup, spaghetti, stew. Other than those, no.

My mom's family had bread and butter on the table for EVERY dinner. Always. They also had dessert every night. And every last one of them is/was thin. But they grew their own produce in a garden, hunted their meat, made bread and pasta from scratch, never drank or smoked. Just clean living. And good genes I think.

My parents always have bread and butter on the table.

I'll eat it at restaurants.... and at home, I'll make corn bread to go with bean soup or chili... but that's about it.

We're actually considering following Ellyn Sater's plan for feeding healthy kids... and she says that they should have access to as much as they want at dinner time. So I'm considering adding it back. I'll probably fire up the bread machine and make my own...and have real butter available.

I don't think it's unhealthful... it's just not something I think about.

When I lived in France, I ate great bread with every meal... and breakfast was usually 1/2 a baguette from the previous day with butter and jam plus hot chocolate to drink... and I was my thinnest ever. LOL

Well I have a round in the oven right now

But I'm making chicken soup for dinner. If I were making chicken and noodles, we wouldn't have bread - but this is chicken with wild rice.

So, like other PPs it depends on what we are having. I'm trying to reduce grains though and we often have bread at breakfast or lunch, so in that case I may opt for potatoes or something instead of bread at dinner.

Maybe just once a week.

Most of the time. I'm an Italian girl! I either make bread or buy Italian bread from a delicious local bakery. I can't stand grocery store bread with dinner. I guess I don't see it as a problem as long as we also eat plenty of fruit and vegetables.

About the only time we have bread is when I make spaghetti or chicken parmesan, and then its garlic bread (typically made on whole wheat bread slices slatherd with butter and spices and baked for a few minutes). But just plain bread or rolls or biscuits? Almost never.

And thats how its always been at my house... with the exception of the year I lived in spain when I ate a TON more bread, and it was SOOO good... but as I don't have access to fresh made baguettes on every corner anymore :sniffle: I live without.

We eat bread with dinner several times a week. Often enough that I buy chibatta/baguettes at costco and freeze them.

Once or twice a week if I make a soup for dinner.
