Substitution Help!

I have a recipe that calls for 1.5oz of spaghetti sauce mix. What could I use in place of going out and buying this? I figure it's blend of seasonings/herbs.
TIA!

What on earth is "spaghetti sauce mix" and where did you find a recipe that calls for it?

I'm not familiar with the commercial blend, but I've made my own sauce plenty of times with tomato paste, water, and spices. Good spices for tomato sauce include onion powder, garlic powder, oregano, parsley, red pepper, salt, and maybe a pinch of sugar or other sweetener (molasses gives a REALLY nice flavor!)

I suspect that is the creepy just add water dried spagetti sauce we had once on a middle school camping trip.... I would probably make my own spagetti sauce or tomato sauce with some sauted onions, canned tomatoes, salt and pepper and whatever else spicewise seems to go.

Ha-ha! Yes ladies, I'm sure it's in one of those aisles where those msg laced packets of premixed sauces, gravies, etc.are
Anyway, I'm thinking the reciped called for that in lieu of just adding your own herbs and so forth. I got the recipe somewhere online and it actually sounds pretty good, healthy, etc. I just wasn't about to go buy a packet of spices and herbs when I'm sure they are in my cabinet anyway! I was trying to think of something with italian flare. Thanks for the suggestions!

1.5 oz is a lot for just herbs and spices (unless your recipe is making enough to feed an army). I'm guessing Magelet is right and it includes dehydrated tomatoes as well. I'd probably take whatever water/liquid is in the recipe and use that much homemade tomato sauce.
