how long to soak mung beans?

I have found a few recipes in an Ayurvedic cook book that I'd like to try, especially since I've been told that mung (moong?) beans can be good for getting lead out of a person's system...the recipes say to rinse, soak and drain the mung beans, but not how long to soak them for...I've looked it up online, and can only find information that says it depends on the recipe. Any tips?
Thanks!

You can soak them like you do other beans, about 12 hours.

I've used them successfully soaking them for less time, but that is probably the best for digestibility.
