OPM, I'm so sorry to hear about the moving dilemna. Ugh. I'm hoping maybe they'll wait a bit to move? Things will work out?

So how concerned should he be about lyme disease? We're not anywhere near the woods, but New England is lyme disease central.
it was maybe half engorged...he was going to call the doctor today but decided against it. The tick doesn't LOOK like a deer tick, but it's hard to tell when it's halfway puffed up, you know?
He's keeping an eye of fever/aches/chills/bullseye rash, so hopefully that should be enough.

well we had our m/w u/s appt this morning. it went really well. we went to our m/w 1st and she checked to see if she could hear the heartbeat with the doppler. it took some digging around, but she was finally able to hear it. it was 144 there. then we all went to the dr she works closely with (in case of emergency) to have the u/s. omg, it was the strangest experience seeing it on the screen. he did a vaginal u/s (which i didn't know they could do), and we got really good pics of baby. at 1 point it was moving around SO much (it looked like it was dancing, or flopping around like a fish out of water). dr said everything looks great! heartbeat was 164 there. but dh and i are now so overwhelmed! i don't think either of us really knew what to expect - lol.

2. My sister's hot water tank busting this morning (we live in a two family house together). Thank the stars her husband was home and went to the basement before he left to work, otherwise our finished basement would be a disaster right now.
yikes!! i hope he feels better!!

tippy, congrats on the positive appointment!

I feel absolutely awful. For the past 24 hours, I have wanted nothing but to lay in bed, read trashy vampire novels, and cry. My stomach hurts, I felt like I was going to puke on everybody riding the train this morning, and I ended up taking a sick day after slogging it through at work for a whole 30 minutes. I really, really should have just called in.

It's been a tough start to the week. After a surge of energy, I'm now fighting off a cold. I got one of my co-workers to cover two of my classes today so I could go home early. I've spent the day sleeping and drinking lots of water. Feeling a little better. I have parent-teacher conferences tomorrow night, so I', trying to beat this thing before it gets worse.

Other than that, things are going well. I think I'm may have to take a cue from you guys and start searching ebay for some good deals. We're still looking locally for a good deal on some nursery furniture, but we have time.

maydaymom - same here, head cold, feel a little lousy but have a headache on top of that makes it worse.

starkyld - feeling any better today?

Had my first prenatal appt with my midwife today. It was great - we were there for nearly 2 hours. She's just wonderful, and we got to hear a heartbeat which was awesome and let's me let go and attach to this pregnancy a bit.

Star, I was wondering the same thing. I know you said that, this is the way morning sickness has been for you, but I just can't fathom morning sickness causing "stomach pain" and if your hurting that bad I would think it was a virus and NOT MS. I hope that sitting in bed made you feel a little better at least mama.

Thanks, Tenk. I feel a lot better now. I think mostly I just needed to dissociate myself from my life for a while. I've had a decent bit of stomach pain on and off this whole time, and a good deal of my bloating is in my upper abdomen, which is probably related. I tend to have stomach pain a few times a week when I'm not pregnant; this is just more significant and more frequent than my non-pregnant state. I'm going to discuss it with my midwife when I see her in just over a week, but I don't appear to have any illness. I think this is just how I handle pregnancy.

On a sad (but fluffy) note, I've finished all my trashy vampire novels and have to go out to find more today. One would think I'd feel like writing my dissertation and working on faculty applications right about now. One would be wrong.

So glad to hear your appointment went well. I'm surprised that the bpm van be so different depending on who does it and what equipment they use. For my first vaginal u/s bpm was 169 at roughly 7 weeks and at 12 weeks it was an abdominal u/s and bpm was 151 but bean was moving so much it was hard to get that reading. I knew they do slow a bit but I thought 151 was a bit too low. I think that bean moving caused it to be off. I'm convinced it's higher.

I'm glad your feeling a bit better mama!!! You know, I had those same symptoms before we discovered I have Celiac disease, just food for thought.

was wondering this too. I openly mocked my sister sometime last year for being into the Twilight series, and she convinced me to read them...I read all three books (this was before the 4th came out) in 2 days, I didn't even sleep. It was asinine. They are so terrible but so good! We're going to see New Moon on the Friday after it comes out...we made the mistake of seeing Twilight at the midnight showing on release night and the screaming tweens totally ruined it for us.

I started reading the Sookie Stackhouse series (because I love True Blood) but only got through the first one, which was bad on a whole different level. My sister tells me they get better but I haven't picked it back up yet. I need to get off my non-fiction kick first.

Yes, feeling much better. Was able to get through a 10 hour yoga instructor training today & still feeling up to another 10 hours tomorrow. I love the second semester

I'm so happy for you. Hearing the heartbeat is great. I have my next appointment on Tuesday & can't wait to hear it again. Also, trying to decide if I'm going to try to get a free u/s on Wednesday. I have to go back to the perinatal center for blood work to finish the quad screen. When we were there for the NT testing, they weren't able to get a good 3D image & the tech said that I should mention it when I came back. That they might be able to sneak me in for another. Would love to see the bean again before 20 wks, but nervous b/c DH probably won't be there. I'm afraid that they'll be able to tell the sex & ask if I want to know. I want DH & I to find out at the same time, but don't know if I'd be able to resist...

I've been way MIA in terms of posting, but I check in and read posts every day. Rooting for all of you mamas, thinking good thoughts all around.

We had an ultrasound -- bouncy little baby in there at 13w2d, heartbeat at 153 (it was 172 about 10 days earlier via doppler), with what looks to my highly untrained eye like a girl (I know it's way early). I turn 35 in three weeks so I am considered "advanced maternal age" and have had to go to a specialist for extra monitoring, tests, talks, etc., which I haven't enjoyed all that much. Our first daughter was born 5 weeks early for no reason that they know of (I think I had pre-e, personally), so they're watching me extra carefully this time because of that too.

I'm generally okay, but nausea has gotten worse in the second trimester, and I can be an emotional wreck -- just tonight, I was laughing at something my husband said so hard that I started crying, and once I was crying, I was absolutely sobbing and couldn't stop.

Anyway, just a quick check-in; I'll try to be a better poster... good vibes to everyone.

Honestly, there must be some sort of physiological switch that confuses laughter with crying during pregnancy, because this has happened to me like 3 times in the past few weeks. I hate it! In my head I'm going "UM, WHAT THE HECK" but my body can't stop. It's completely annoying and embarrassing, I feel like a psycho when it happens.

Keeping an eye out for symptoms is a good plan. Also, I'm not sure if you still have the tick or not (this might just be information for the future if not) but if you do, many towns in New England will take a tick and test it for Lyme for free at your local health department...they also identify what type of tick it was which can help you learn to know the difference between a deer tick and other varieties. We do this any time we find one on ourselves or our chidlren.
