Does anyone have any good sources on the web for weekly theme ideas? And not just the letters of the alphabet... but stuff like Beach Week, Frog Week, etc.? I'd love to have a big list to choose from.

TIA!!!

We are doing a kinda-formal Nusery Rhyme of teh Week.

I have a ton of sites on my laptop -- i will post later -- but here is one:

http://curry.edschool.virginia.edu/g...and_rhymes.htm

I also find if you sear the rhyme -- you get tons of craft and art sites that will come up with related things. I can always find a couple of art / craft ideas we can do -- or modfy and do.

I print eh weeks rhyme out big and tape it to card board and we sing it / recite it / and sometimes look at the words or don't.

It is working well for our kinda-formal PK3/4 this year ....

this time of year I plan a lot based on the seasons and holidays. For instance in oct we had a apple week where we learned all about how apples grew, words, apple paint prints and books galore and then visted a u pick apple farm. The following week we did pumpkins and visted a pumpkin patch. I suspect in Nov we will have thanksgiving and gratitute based weeks, in fact one week we are talking about giving and helping others. The boys are going to be helping out the boy scouts with their annual food drive.

Edited because I didn't read ahead.

I have an entire year's worth of themes. Once we do bedtime story, I'll come back and put them down for you.

If you do weekly animals, how about starting out with a very small animal and then going up from there. Start with, say, ants...and then many months later, you could end up with elephants.

When they're a little older, you could start even smaller with amoeba, or bacteria.

I wish our daycare would do one of the curriculuums you all have posted. They do letter-of-the-week. This week is "J" and I had to get up early to make juice jello, because I won't allow DS to eat the artificial-color-artificial-flavor (possibly artificial-sweetener) Jello that they are painting(!) with and eating today.
