Honey... I LOVE it!

Ok, so, I'd never have thought of it, but I read in a post somewhere on MDC about using honey (straight or mixed with a few other things) as a face wash. I thought, well, I have lots of raw honey, so why not give it a try?
I LOVE it! I use raw honey (put into a "squirt" bottle) and in the morning and evening I was my face with honey instead of soap of any kind! I just put about 2 tsp to 1 T in my (dry) hand then smear it onto my skin, then wash it off with warm water!! When I am in the shower, I put in on when I get in and wash it off when I am finishing - like a mask!
Now, I do still have blemishes (a problem I have ALWAYS had), but they are no worse and when I get an icky one, I try to put honey on it before it gets too bad... it really seems to help!! So, now I am using a completely natural "product" for my face and it leaves my skin softer!!
Just had to share.... for anyone who has not heard of or read about honey as an option

I tried it after reading about it here too, but I had to stop after about a week. It made me break out. I read that it's great for those that have blemishes, but my skin is really clear and it caused them for me. My skin felt super soft for a few days, which was good, but not worth the pimples! Glad it works for you, though!

I have to do it as an occasional mask. If I over-do the honey, my face gets really pink and sensitive.

I've been using just water most washings and honey/BS every so often with good results

About a month ago I started making my own face wash recipe:
Foam soap pump
Filled with honey, water, lavender EO, a squirt of castile soap.
Love it!

MaryLang - would you mind giving a recipe (like amounts)? That sounds like a great recipe and I'd love to try it!

monarchgrrl - yeah, my skin is pretty darn oily and blemish prone...I thought, hey can't get much worse if I try just honey! And, I've been very pleasantly surprised that it is NOT worse and in fact seems to be clearing up even. So, I could see where if you have clear / normal skin - it may not work as well - worth trying though

Sure. It's pretty much just an old foam soap dispenser filled 50%water, 50% honey, a few drops of LavEO and a small squirt of castile. I started with plain honey, but my skin broke out like pp said, and it was a little too sticky for me. This works out great, I get the super moisturizing honey, the benefits of LavEO and the extra cleaning power of castile to get my make-up off.

I like to do honey facial mask as well. Especially when I sit under the dryer for my hair, for some reason honey and heat just gives me the most smoothest, glowy looking skin ever. I love honey.

I like it too, but I have combination skin that's very oily on the nose, and I find that I can use honey only once a day and wash with soap (diluted Dr. Bronner's) at the other end of the day; otherwise I'm too oily.

I've found that when I have a runny nose, honey helps to prevent the skin from peeling! Whenever there's a lull in the runniness, I rinse my face with warm water, pat dry, put a thick layer of honey around the nostrils and let it sit a few minutes, then rinse it off. If I'm already raw and peeling when I start this, then I'll follow it by rubbing olive oil into the skin. But if I get a chance to start with the honey before the skin gets raw, then it never gets to the peeling stage!
