peeing a boy - Page 2

We don't use any special equipment--though nothing against it if it works for you. You'll get the hang of it after some practice. It took me a while to learn to aim especially for both #1 and #2 over the sink. My husband was helpful with this: showed me how to use one finger to aim downward. Our baby doesn't seem to care at all. Now we also use the BBLP, which works well--just make sure he doesn't get "stuck" pointing upward! And peeing outdoors is the best! You can try different positions for directional control, no clean up, and your baby will probably love it. (When we have "pee refusals" outdoors nearly always works.) Just remember, the saying about not p--ing into the wind is true!

So I just did an experiment w/ DS and pottied him w/o the shield, to see if I could figure out the aim. And I did, after about half of the stream went everywhere else, lol. But this was a pretty weak #1 so I don't know what I'll do for the fire hose ones. I do like the shield but just want to get a little more flexibility and freedom and keep my options open.

I'm still really loving EC though, overall. Last night we did miss two of his pee signals but today he held some #1 and #2 even when we were out and about, and pottied right when we got home. Then a miss (b/c I wasn't paying attention), then some more in the potty. But you all know how it goes.

I';ve been trying to work on our aim, too -- The last few days, he's had quite strong ones that completely clear the whole potty! Luckily I have the potty next to the sink, and most of it went right into the sink! That happens when I hold both of his legs, because it raises his whole body quite a bit off the potty itself. I could try to tip him to the side a bit, but I'm not sure I can tip him enough without being upset -- his uncirced self really points way to the side! I guess I could hold him to the side of the potty, and maybe he'd make it in! But at least he isn't hitting his leg as much as he was before, so he's not seeming to stop in the middle, which is what I really cared about!
