Talk to be about after birth pains! - Page 2

Afterease tincture is a combination of Crampbark, Black haw, Motherwort, & Yarrow. My clients who have used it all swear by it.

They were so bad with my second, i couldn't even hold ds, i had to give him away to dh and just scream and cry and yes, after a completely unmedicated delivery, i took pain meds for the AFTERPAINS!!!! i had none with my first, but they were AWFUL with ds. Just awful. They not only took my breath away with the physical pain, but the mental shock of them was just more than I could deal with also.

Yep, here the same.. I'm already starting to panick at the thought of these afterpains... brrr... last week when I saw our midwife, I asked her what to have at home to make it bearable... I found the labour and birth easy-peasy compared to those afterbirth pains that seem totally useless (they aren't of course, but just perceived like that... ).

My after-birth pain relief set contains:
- a heating cherry pillow... helped me a lot the last time...
- some "alchemilla vulgaris", in drops or leaves, doesn't matter, I took it all... I don't know if it really helped, but I'm not going to try differently now...
- and then some normal pain relief tablets...

I'm armed, I hope...

Yep, this was similar to my experience too. Second labor was almost a "piece of cake" in comparison to first but no one ever mentioned the after pains to me. They were bad, worse than the labor. I did take some Motrin that helped.

I'm on number five as well. My MAIN concern, was not homebirth, not labor pain....none of that....but the after pains. I get them like no ones business and it makes me frantic and anxious. I just want to relax with babe.

I took NO medications after my homebirth (with baby 4-my first hb). There was actually a really simple trick that still amazes me, which is why I wanted to share.

Go pee before you nurse.

I swear on my life that's all I did per my mw's reminding and was just amazed how there was little to no pain. I'm totally willing to take ibuprofin or tylenol for pain, especially afterbirth pain. Happy to report, I took none

I'm leaving a sticky note in sight this time: 1.Potty. 2. Nurse.

DD2 was my 2nd babe, I remember sitting in bed, rocking back and forth, crying, and trying not to scream because the afterpains hurt so bad. It was worse then the labor for that child. I was terrified after DS was born, #3, his labor had been soo freaking painful, the last thing I wanted to do was deal with the stupid afterpains as well. I peed constantly, took extra strength Ibuprofen around the clock and never got them that bad. Thank goodness.

After Pains suck and it sounds like for some of you it was unbearable. It was worse with my 2nd and 3rd lasted 3-4 days. Not anywhere as bad as labor for me. More like a bad case of Mens cramps. I took Motrin but well take the peeing advice too.

Unbelievably bad after the second baby, in spite of hot water bottle, belly binding, empty bladder. I wept repeatedly, and I'm a tough nut when it comes to pain. I wish I had had Afterease on hand, and absolutely will for future births.

Definitely prepare for the worst in terms of supplies (Afterease, Arnica, Motrin). If you don't need them, well, then, all the better!
