So this may or may not be considered WAH, but considering I homeschool and would always be either doing admin work from home or having kids in tow, I figured it to be best here.
I'm in the very earliest stages (like mostly ideas and funding thoughts) of trying to start a community education center for adults. The education center would be focused on different natural living topics, anywhere from yoga classes to fermentation classes to prenatal exercise, cloth diapering, organic gardening, babywearing, knitting, sustainable energy options, I think you get the idea.
So...thoughts? Has anyone done this before? We live in a rural area. There is a private liberal arts college 30 minutes from my house. I was thinking that the little town it's in would be a good location. There is also a large metro area about 40 minutes from the town and another large metro area about an hour away. There is *nothing*, literally *nothing* like this anywhere around us right now. There is not even a decent selection of county extension courses or community education from nearby colleges.
I was thinking it might even be possible to get a grant for most of the start-up costs? I'm not out to make a lot of money; more out to change the world and make a little extra money.
Anyone ever do this or have friends that have? Any experience you could share?
