I'm trying to cut all forms of MSG out of my family's diet. When reading the lables of 'natural' speghetti sauce and salsa last night I kept comming across the words 'natural flavoring'. Am I correct that thinking that is a different way of saying MSG?
And if so, how can they get away with stating that something is 100% natural if it contains a chemicaly changed food product?

Are you trying to cut out monosodium glutamate, a toxic industrial food additive, or glutamates in general (some of which are naturally occuring, especially in traditional food processing of foods like cheese, but also in foods like mushrooms, tomatoes). some people are extremely sensitive to glutamates, and have trouble even with these. I don't worry about naturally occuring glutamates, but avoid all processed foods, particularly those which contain any name which might be msg. I figure, if it's cheese by itself, I'm good, but if its cheese crackers, it might be artificial msg.

Its scary how many names msg can hide under.

I'm trying to cut out Monosodium Glutamate. Our goal is to cut out as much non-food food products as possible. Don't mind naturaly occuring stuff, just the manufactured non-foods.

In the last 3 months we've radicly changed the way we eat. from a very traditional SAD diet, to whole foods/real food type eating. So I'm just starting to learn about truly healthy eating
