I've been discouraged by all the negative press co-sleeping has been getting lately, and was really happy to see this positive article in Scholastic Parent & Child magazine:

This magazine is typically disseminated by early childhood centers/elementary schools/preschools to parents, so what a great place to have a "co-sleeping is OK" message! I especially like that in the cautions, they included matter-of-fact, common sense things and didn't make co-sleeping sound more difficult than it has to be.

Quote:
| In recent years, co-sleeping has become a controversial topic, though it’s not a new practice. Most of the world has been doing it for as long as parents and children have had shelter to sleep in. In cultures where co-sleeping has long been the norm, some studies report that these babies cry less and mature into healthy, respectful, and obedient toddlers. These days, parents who work long hours may be drawn to co-sleeping if it helps them to feel reconnected with their children. Some experts contend that the co-sleeping decision is best left to each individual family. |
