Away We Go Movie

Did anyone see this movie? There is a part where they totally cut up on a "continuum" family. I'm interested in everyone's opinion. We are definitely AP- child-led weaning, family bed, babywearers, but I thought watching the extreme LN character was hilarious.

I don't want to condone the world thinking we're all freaks or anything, but I guess I can still have a sense of humor about it all...

I also thought that was pretty funny, esp since I could see how other people might find me a freak for family bed, bf'ing, and wearing my kid in a sling. I do use a stroller though. But that part was the best!!

When she said "I breastfed her baby" I started CRACKING UP because in my AP playgroup the other day we had a conversation about watching other people's kids and I was like "well, they'd have to be ok with me breastfeeding their kid if they were fussy" :-D

Totally loved that movie! DH actually bought it for me a couple of weeks ago, which says a lot because there are so few movies I actually like enough to care about owning. The particular part you are talking about was pretty funny, and I thought Maggie Gyllenhaal did a great job with her character!

We've had a couple threads here about it, and people seem to either love it or hate it. I thought it was great. I think it's cool that AP has become mainstream enough that people can poke fun at the extremists in the movement.

Ditto! I thought the exaggerated characters were hilarious, and she played the part so well. I'm totally down with AP... but none of us should ever take ourselves too seriously!
