Ok, so dh and I have been super busy lately and so we really need to sit down and talk about expectations and wishes for thsi birth. He is on board with VBAC and wants to be supportive but I think the guy does'nt have a clue, lol.
I acted as a doula for my sisters birth last january and it was wonderful, but very hands on and she needed/wanted me to be her voice to the nurses. I did my best to suggest new positions, rub her back, get her watever she needed as well as be an emotional support.
When I suggested to dh that I was thinking of asking my sister or my BFF to do the same for me (I attended all of their births) he seemed to act like he wanted a more private, hubby and wife experience. I even got the vibe that he felt put off, like I thought he would not do a great job.
For our first son we both went into labor a little (ok, a lot) nieve. I trusted that whatever the nurses suggested was best and he thought he would just need to hold my hand during pushing. Needless to say we ended up with a cs
I would love to have some videos that we could watch together (he would respond better to a video I think) that can give him an idea of what kind of support a woman laboring (naturally and not) needs. Books are good too just harder to get him to read.
