Question about a circ'd penis-please help!

I know that this is a forum about NOT circumcising...but you ladies are all so knowledgeable I thought I would ask here...I don't know where else to post it.

Yes, I circ'd, and yes, I feel really really terrible. Please don't flame me.

This is my question. I don't know if this happens regardless of being circ'd or not. I was cleaning my 5 month old DS's penis today, I have to pull the skin back a little bit to clean really thouroughly (I don't know the proper terminology, sorry) and at the place where the plastibell thing was, the part where the circumcised part meets the rest of the penis-there are like 3 or 4 big white lumps under his skin. It's really gross. And one of them is sticking out of the skin a little.
He doesn't seem to be in any pain whatsoever. I'm waiting for a call back from his ped. but thought I would ask in the meantime. Scary!! Please tell me SOMEBODY has seen this before.

I am thinking if he is not in pain, that is a very god sign and you can afford to be patient. I don't have a circumcised son but my son did have white clumps under the skin of his foreskin. They were smegma. Usually, I see them described as "smegma pearls". They are little and round. Also, perhaps they could be cysts.

Your doing what is called retracting the remaining foreskin and in intact boy you don't do that all you just wipe what you see .

Since your son got a plastibell circ so does he have the remaining skin covering his glans or is his glans exposed ?

What you are seeing under the skin is smegma which lubricates the inside of the foreskin with antibacerial properties & to help with keeping it clean while a child isn't able to retract so depending on what type of circ your son got it may just be wise to leave it be & don't let your doctor try to rip his remaining foreskin apart but on the other hand if the remaining foreskin attaches to the scar then it would be necessary to pull back because a scar wouldn't be able to have the ability to tell the remaining foreskin to detach .

So don't worry about the smegma its not an infection

I also vote for smegma and would like to encourage you not to push the skin back any to clean under it. Just wash like a finger and swish in the bath should be enough to keep things clean.

Hi,

It is smegma caught under the skin. He may also have penile adhesions. I regret circumcising my son (let my dh talk me into it) and had to deal with the foreskin re-attaching to the glans. I read that an adhesion can cause problems. It doesn't act like a foreskin because of the scar tissue. It can cause a penis to bend as it grows.

A warm washcloth on the white bumps will let the smegma out and lots of vaseline (or any kind of slippery cream if you don't like petroleum products) on the rim of the head until a year of age will keep adhesions away.

My future boys will be intact.

Glad to hear future boys will be intact. Does that mean your DH has changed his mind, or did you just put your foot down about it?
