Hmm, I haven't had that experience with my chickens. I think it's more about marketing. My best layers have been brown leghorns and they lay white eggs. They're smaller than some of the better brown layers I have, so they eat less, but lay just as often. It's just breeding. My second best layers are ameracaunas, hands down. They lay mostly bluish or greenish eggs.
