In my area the schools are being hit hard, I have a child in in high school, where their absentee rate was over 250 in one day. The district nurse told me that this really is no different then seasonal flu (which at two weeks ago was not in circulation meaning everyone with flu symptoms was considered to have swine flu), that in fact this flu had a shorter duration and lesser symptoms for most then the seasonal flu. Much like any illness some people will respond differently to it and if you compare usual flu statistics to this flu you will be surprised. The media likes to hype the things that keep people coming back for more...I for one will actively boost my immune system, wash my hands, perhaps be a little more neurotic around the kiddos and not get an untested vaccine.
