This is on my "must-read" list. I got a copy last summer & just browsed through. Very thought-provoking.

Mortimer Adler's "How to read a book" is still staring at me from my bedside. I might finally do something about. Thanks OP for this thread. Very motivating.

i am 3/4 of the way done with Rasiing Cain. and while it is not homeschool related, and while it is written by two psycholisgts in SCHOOLS -- it has cemented my already soild homeschooling intentions.

Acutally DH has been on board for 'as long as we live here" due to the poor diststrict.

but reading passages to him while he was trapped in the car with me for 14 hours over Thansgiving (LOL ) -- he is not in agreement of homeschooling K to 3rd no matter where we live for both boys.

It is an excellent book.

I wish I had more time to devote to reading. I miss that. I am in college and I read whatever my subject is at the time. Currently it's accounting.

I need to read more and surf less but the boys can play on me while i am here, and color at teh table with me -- if i get a book out they get wild.

Not really a book to read, per se, but i am gonna read though the first parts and look at it. I know we are not ready for it -- but i want to be ready when we are ...

I am also quickly reading A Bear Called paddenton as that is our read-aloud for next week and i am looking for activity ideas.

I am mostly just reading for fun. I just read You Can't Say You Can't Play and have started a fiction series about a country doctor (An Irish Country Doctor). I am also previewing Black Beauty and Around the World in 80 Days for my dd.

I am currently reading:

Climbing Parnassus by Tracy Lee Simmons - I figure I will want to start Satori on Latin right away when I'm done, lol. This book has been excellent in increasing my vocabulary, I need my dictionary at my side when reading this.

For a lighter read, I am reading Mara, Daughter of the Nile. Loving it so far, I feel like I'm experiencing the lives of ancient Egyptians.

I'm reading a few other books simultaneously, but these are my priorities right now.
