Help me understand my mei tie

I have a WAHM mei tie and I just don't get it!
I have tied DD on my front a few times and she's happy for a little while, but loves the moby much more.
I got the mei tie to have the back carry option but I think I am mei tie inept.

Any suggestions? Videos to watch? Easy ways to tie it?
TIA

1) thebabywearer.com
2) Look at the Kozy carrier website, they have some good instructions for a variety of carries.

Youtube actually has a lot of good videos on getting baby tied on properly.

I didn't start doing back carries until DD was 2, but I used the hip scoot method. Where I tied the mei tai on a bit higher than I wanted her to sit, then put her on my hip. I then scooted her around leaning forward to give a flat spot for her to sit/lie on. I'd then bring the straps up and over my shoulders and then stand up snug her in. I'd highly suggest having a spotter and doing it on a soft surface at first just to make sure no accidents happen.

It is so freeing to be able to carry on your back though! I love it and DD does too. Even now at almost 4 we still bw occasionally.

how old is your LO? are you trying with legs in or legs out?

the most common newbie problem with a MT is not getting it snug enough. once baby is in, you want to bounce and pull on the straps to get baby deep into the carrier and to get it snug so you can tie it tight. also depending on the length of the straps, it is often helpful to twist the straps a couple of times behind baby's back before bringing the straps back around to tie - it adds support and keeps a tiny baby from slipping down too deep into the carrier.

definitely check out the directions on the kozy website. you might also try to find a copy of the Tummy-To-Tummy video - Kelly from Kozy does the mei tai segment and sometimes it's easier to see it in video than in frozen frame pictures. youtube is also a good place, as is thebabywearer as pp's have mentioned.

DD is 16wks, but in 6-9mo clothes, so not a teeny babe anymore.

I have tried the mei tie with both legs in and out, just can't see to get her comfy enough that she wants to be stay for more than 10-15 min.

I think I'll head over to youtube right now!
