Tiny dip containers for lunchbox?

My son takes his lunch to preschool and he LOVES to dip things. I can't find tiny dip containers anywhere. I want them to be very tiny, as in maybe an ounce or two at the absolute most, and they need to not have big giganto lids like the Glad type containers that I can buy at the grocery store. They really need to be small enough to fit in his lunchbox with his various other containers without taking up too much real estate. They also need to be water tight so the various "dips" won't leak out.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Dd has a tupperware mini snack cup that she uses in her lunch box. We were able to buy a single one at a flea market tupperware stand for a dollar or two. Everything we buy for school lunch needs to pass the "open test", and this was very easy for dd to open while also preventing leaks.

Try doing a search for bento supplies. Bento is aaaaaall about the tiny containers.

Even better if you can snag the last one http://www.amazon.com/Tupperware-Smi...ef=pd_sim_hg_4

Ask at a restaurant the next time you go out to eat if they have a couple portion cups and lids you could have. You could probably reuse them a handful of times before the lid stopped sealing.

34me, thanks so much for that link! I also snagged the last of the 2 ounce size that the same seller had listed and combined shipping. I got 5 1-ounce and 4 2-ounce. Hopefully that will help with lunch packing for him.

MDC mamas always amaze me!

ETA: Your link now brings me to another seller who has them priced a bit more, but I only paid $1.75 for the 1 ounce and $2.90 for the 2 ounce. Shipping was $8, but it is still a good deal. Thanks again!

I may be too late, but we have little bento mayonnaise containers from Daiso.

They are similar to these, and very easy for little fingers to open.

Those blue smidgets are EXACTLY what we use for this type of thing!! I also have some other Tupperware containers for when something a little bigger is needed. I also LOVE the Lunch n Things containers with hinged lids!!!! Those are SO great!! Save a million ziplocs that way!

Clipfish, those little boxes are rediculously cute! I actually ordered those too. I am going to end up with more dip containers than I need, but I figure if he loses them, I will have spares. I also have to pack a lunch for work, so I can use them in mine too.

I just had a friend who is living in Korea offer to send me a real bento box lunch kit for DS and for me too, so these will be great in there. Our bento boxes have dividers, but the little dip containers will make them more versatile.

I can't wait for it all to arrive!

We try to avoid plastic, but found small stainless steel ramikens (with plastic lids unfortunately) in packs at Fred Meyer.

Just popping in to say the teeny tiny blue one ounce Tupperware containers are the perfect size, but the lids are nearly impossible to get on and off without spilling the contents. I am hoping they loosen up with some use and am sending DS with one today hoping his teachers can open it up for him. The two ounce ones are pretty great too!

Our Laptop lunchbox has a tiny little dip container in it, and in their tips they mention that if little ones have trouble getting the lid off to try putting some vegetable oil in the groove. Maybe that will work for your tight lid problem too!

Baby food containers. Super cheap, and you get to eat the bananas too (I love babyfood bananas). I get the two-pack plastic ones for under a dollar, so babyfood aside the containers are fifty cents each, and are perfect for dips. Seems like the little glass ones would work fine too for those avoiding plastic.

Also, they're easy to both open and close, and they stay closed and leak-free well.

We use pots sold for freezing your own baby food. They are a bit bigger than I would like but we already had them.

Also great for portioning our raisins or yoghurt from a big pot.

Just a tip/trick about the smidgets and midgets from Tupperware. To makes the lids easier to use while still liquid tight is to put them in hot water for a couple minutes, pat dry quickly and immediately put on the container for 24 hours. This will make them more plyable.

And the midget and smidget lids are interchangable and as always Tupperware always has the lifetime warrenty on their plastic against chipping, cracking, breaking or peeling and you can find any t'ware consultant to replace that is the best part.
