Ugh, confused!

Prepare for a quick party poopin'-

I got a little ahead of myself by adding a BFP to my siggy...

So my period isn't officially late yet, but mid-cycle I had a light pink discharge and since have had mild uterine cramping (every day for a week and a half). I'm assuming it was implantation cramping and spotting... BUT I recently read implantation cramping and spotting happens around the time of your missed period, not 2 weeks prior.

Also, I'd assume my HCG levels would be high enough to test if implantation occured a couple weeks ago! But BFN yesterday I'm not officially due till the 8th

Other than pregnancy, what could this be? I'm afraid I've jumped the gun and this may not be pg.

I'm really overanalyzing, huh? I'm a Virgo

Saw this on new posts.

Where did you read that? Implantation can happen anywhere from about 5dpo on (though it depends on the woman obviously....it takes a few days once fertilized to get into the uterus and then you can get the spotting). Makes no sense to me that that wouldn't occur until after your missed period since you likely would have implanted before your missed period.

Exactly! I read it on a few sites, including yahoo answers... Not reliable sources apparently. But if implantation did occur when I spotted (1.5 wks ago) then HCG would be testable, yeah?

The way I've understand it, implantation bleeding can occur 6-12 days post ovulation. At which point hcg begins production and depending on the sensitivity of the test you are using, can be detected and show as a positive test.

For what it's worth, I had implantation bleeding with both of my pregnancies. I had positive pregnancy test about a week before my period was due, but my cycle is a bit longer (32) than the norm. This time around, I *think* I ovulated sometime around the 10th, started spotting the 19th and had an extremely faint positive test on the 22nd, it was clearly positive on the 24th.

I think if you've had implantation bleeding, then a test would be positive a couple days later.

Good luck to you!!

Implantation happens usually 7-10dpo. Sometimes sooner...I was charting and saw implantation dip at 5dpo. Anyway, after implantation HcG levels will double about every 48 hours. So no implantation does not happen when af is due. If the time between o and af is anything less than 10 days then they consider that a problem with your luteal phase...so that wouldn't make sense about implantion. If af isn't due for another 4 days it is possible that you could have a negative test depending on how many days past o you are. I would wait and couple more days and test.

this site seems to explain it pretty well.

yep, implantation spotting can happen just a few days after ovulation. in addition, many, many women do not get a bfp until af is a week late or more.

I experienced the same thing...some weird faint light spotting a few days after we DTD.

The only explanations I can come up with are 1. I ovulated way before I realized it and the sex we had PRIOR to that was the actual conception...or 2. Implantation bleeding 3dpo. (what I THOUGHT was ovulation anyway) which would be way soon.

If it's 1. I'm a week further along than I thought. If it's 2. then whoa, that was some fast implantation!

I figured I'd wait til my dr, appointment and see what she thinks. otherwise it's way confusing!

it's also possible have a little spotting right at ovulation too, which would be for totally different reasons than implantation bleeding.
Here's a quote from the same site that mamakaikai linked.

Theoretically, "ovulation spotting" is also possible. Not frequently discussed, ovulation spotting is defined as a very light bleeding caused by the rupture of the ovarian follicle. As with mittelschmerz, not all women will experience this symptom, and based on the rather scant literature on this subject, ovulation spotting should be considered a peripheral ovulation symptom.

If you had spotting right at ovulation, a week and a half ago, then you might get your BFP in the next couple days! (I usually get BFPs 10-12 dpo. YMMV)

I had 3 BFNs right before AF was due. Instinctively though, I knew I was pg and had my first faint BFP when AF was 3 days late. I've done another 2 tests with nice dark lines!
Good luck!!

Darn digital tests and not allowing me to imagine an invisible line. I'll test again in a few days. DD and I have the flu and feel absolutely terrible.

Hope you're all well.

At 2 weeks ago I would think the spotting would have been ovulation and not implantation depending on how long your cycle is and when o happened. Implantation can happen anywhere from 3dpo on up until af is due. Though the later the implant the less likely of a sticky pg due to hormones.

Still no period...BFN yesterday morning...

Also, I've never in my life had ovulation spotting...and it was our first month TTC. And I've had af-like cramping during the luteal phase...except it's died out the past few days and now nothing.

Phantom pregnancy, eh?
