I have a two month old, and I'm going back to work in 3 weeks. I'll be working from home for a while, and most of my job requires me to sit at the computer for long periods. Is it possible (comfortable?) to wear a baby while you're typing? I was thinking maybe some type of wrap on my back, maybe sitting on a balance ball? Is this crazy?? We cosleep and I wear the little guy all the time...I know most people put their babies down for naps, but I'm just not ready--I tried once and it felt really awful emotionally, I just need this little guy to be up against me, he's just too new. I'd just like to figure out a way to work while he's sleeping w/o breaking my back. Oh and I should mention he's huge--already 14 1/2 lbs!

When DS was little we did a few different things. I sometimes wore him in the Moby, and sometimes he would just lay on a boppy on my lap. Sometimes I would sit crossleged and lay him on a pillow in my lap. I would also pull a couch cushion on the floor next to me and lay him on that. DS was a big baby, too, and I found that I needed to get up and move quite often to keep from having back problems. I worked 40 hours/week for about a month, then I cut down to 32. We did that for over a year. Good luck!

I've sat at the computer with my babies in the Moby wrap, very comfortable. Also done it with a ring sling, baby in the cradle position.
Now my youngest is 11 months and when he falls asleep in the back carry position of the Ergo, I sit down at the computer. I have also put my laptop on the kitchen counter and stood for a bit, then sat back down with it. Don't know if that is an option for you.
Also nursed at the computer with baby laying on a My Breast Friend nursing pillow.
Keeping him close to you when he sleeps is a good thing. :-) My kids always slept best that way. Littlest one still does.

i do. when he was little and shorter and more comfy in a sling i would wear him at the computer all the time. the laptop could go on my lap under ds. now that hes bigger, i put him in a MT in my back and after he falls asleep i can sit at the computer (even in an office chair, obviously not sitting all the way back) he hates it when i'm sitting, so he has to be asleep first...

I use the moby wrap and sit on a balance ball chair. If DD fusses at all, I just bounce a bit to soothe her. You can find the chair here: http://www.gaiam.com/product/fitness...eball-chair.do

My son is 3.5 months old and also big... my set up is a rocking chair + foot stool with a laptop cart. He sleeps on my chest either in the MT (if he fell asleep already in it) or just laying on my chest w/o a carrier. I have both hands free this way to work on finishing grad school. Good luck!

I'm wearing my little guy in the Moby right now. It's the only way I CAN use the computer since he was born.
Generally I sit with my legs stretched out and the keyboard in my lap (sort of just forward of where the baby's butt is). Don't know if that would be comfortable for long stretches of time while you're working or not though!

Thanks for the advice! I think I'll try it out with the balance ball. My keyboard is on a pull out tray, so no room for baby on my lap, but I bet we could work it out on my back. I need to get an ergo and another wrap and I'll give it a try. I'm so glad to know others have had success--everyone else I asked just keep saying, put that baby down!!!
