Need help with toddler at night

DD is almost 3. She refuses to sleep in a bed. She has a crib (in our room) plus a bottom bunk in the girls' room (they have triple bunks). She also refuses to sleep in our bed with us. We end up sleeping in the recliner, just so I can get some sleep. She will whine & cry all night til we do. If she falls asleep, I will try putting her in one of the beds, usually the crib since it's right nest to our bed, but she usually wakes up right away. So it's to the recliner we go.

I'd love for her to sleep all night in her own bed, but that's a miracle that might never happen. She's very clingy all day to me, and I try to give her plenty of undivided attention, but it's hard with the other girls home, and homeschooling, trying to keep the house in order, etc.

I don't know what to do . I'd like to sleep in a bed too!

Have you ever tried giving her melatonin? It makes for a deeper sleep. She might not wake up when you transfer her. Kids who take it also tend to sleep 10 % more than they did without it. Another thing that could help is a magnesium supplement, such as Baby Calm or Natural Calm. Magnesium is not a miracle worker like melatonin, but it helps. It makes my ds sleep much more soundly and go longer in between his wakings.

Could she have some sort of reflux? DD could not sleep flat for a LONG time...so that is why I always assume such a thing.

I'm wondering why with you in a recliner works for her when with you in a bed does not? The only thing I can think is the angle - maybe get her a wedge under the mattress to give her some angle?

Good luck Mama, it is so much work to find the right balance for our DC!

Thanks, I haven't tried those supplements.

I don't know why she likes the recliner either. I think she gets scared in her own beds, and she is very shy and timid around Daddy, so she doesn't want to sleep between us in our bed. I've never noticed any other reflux symptoms or pain.
