We have K-2nd grade. I like them, sometimes I pull them out and we read/copy the poems or look at the art. When my kids are in the tub, we read from the history or literature sections or find a song to sing. We get ideas for math and art.
I got them for about $4 each, through used sales or half.com and think they are honestly a great addition to our homeschooling books and are ones I use a lot. We don't use them as our only curriculum, but are a great resource for us. So for us, they are were worth it.
