Rowan's 8 weeks tomorrow and is cooing up a storm. It's so funny! He's not a huge smiler-- he will smile back if you catch him just as he's waking up and in a good mood -- but the cooing and ahing, we mommy-baby back and forth for 20 minutes. Sometimes he'll get stuck, scrunch up his face and start to purse his lips, the internal gears going "i know I'm supposed to do something... what.. is.. it...". But most of the time, I ooh, he oohs right back!
Of course, only twice a day... his early morning awake period, and after his late evening nap, when he's up about 10pm.
