Day 3 lab values (x posted)

I have a bunch of labwork coming up and I'm pretty nervous about all this and what it means.

FSH/LH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone/Luteinizing hormone)
Anyone familiar with these labs?

I'm going for progesterone testing for Day 21, my doc's also testing TSH. We've been trying to conceive for about a year now. Since I have longer cycles, I should have asked if I should go AFTER day 21. I'd assume so.

Does anyone know?

* My FSH is 4 and my LH is 1.9. I know it's not PCOS. But I've heard they're supposed to have a 1:1 ratio, and my FSH is twice my LH

Your "day 21" labs should be drawn 7 DPO - day 21 assumes a CD 14 ovulation.

The point of those labs are to confirm that you ovulated and that your progesterone levels are high enough to sustain an early pregnancy.

On what cycle day was the FSH 4 and the LH 1.9?

What was your estradiol (E2) on that test?

The ratio thing is the other way around - if your LH is higher than your FSH, it's a potential indicaotr. Since your FSH is higher, but still very low, you're likely fine in that regard.

However, a very high E2 level can suppress your FSH level.

Basically, you want your FSH low, low, low on CD 3 - 4 is EXCELLENT, 10+ is the danger zone.

Your FSH will go up as your cycle progresses, and your LH is what surges just prior to ovulation.

Hope that helps. . .

Your FSH sounds freakin fabulous! My last was 9. Ick. And what FtMPapa says about the ratio is what i've heard, too.

Your progesterone test should definitely be done 7 days after ovulation, not on an arbitrary day 21.
