Cute things your kids have said before or during labor/birth?

DS and I were talking about labor last night and whether or not he would like to be present when the baby is born. We have talked a lot about labor and birth over the last few months and he is totally fascinated by it. We were talking about how it does hurt and he was worried about seeing me in pain. I explained that I don't mind and the little bit of pain is worth it to have a new baby. So he says...

"So, it's kind of like going to the dentist... it hurts first but then you get a prize at the end. But you get a baby, so you get a really, really big prize!"

I couldn't help but laugh! It was so cute! He went on and on about how a baby was the world's greatest prize!

So what have your LO's said about labor and birth that have made you laugh?

My 3yo DD slept through my DS HB. After he was born Grandma went to wake DD so she could meet her brother. Grandma asked her to wake up the baby is here, DD replied thats not a baby thats a kitty . Grandma did convince her to come check things out at least.

Good idea for a thread.

Before Dd2 was born somebody asked Dd1 if she knew where babies came from and she said proudly "Vuvlas!"

She was present for the birth and pointed out the "Santa" (placenta) to Grandma.

I remember when I was due with DD, it would have been right close to or after my edd, I was so big, so ready. I was just complaining a little as I usually did and he came up to me, just 2yo at the time. He stood there, right in front of me, just looking at my belly. He stared, and checked every angle. I just stood there watching him as he didnt say anything.
Then he reached up, mooved my shirt up out of the way, looked again, then took his little hand and pushed and pulled at the underneath of my belly. He made a couple little sounds and then put my shirt down. He steped back real quick and said,

"sorry mom, I tried, but the baby isn't going to come out."

then he ran off. I am pretty sure I remember the words just right, but still really wish I had written it down at the time as I wanted to. It has been 6 years now, but it was the cutest, sweetest thing and I will never forget that goofy tone and the certainty that since he wasnt able to make it happen that she was just stuck.

When I was pushing with my DD (home waterbirth), my son woke up about 20 minutes before she was born. My doula went upstairs and got him up, to the bathroom, etc. and settled him in front of the tv in the next room (open floorplan). I was doing a lot of "roaring" in the tub with my DH helping support me. He'd come over every so often and look to see what was going on and my husband would say something reassuring. Later on I asked him if it scared him when I was making all that noise and he said, "No, I couldn't hear the tv!". Well, I guess I prepared him pretty well...

when i was preggers with my last child my son was 3.5, he was so sure there were two babies in my belly... well both my kids were there for my hospital birth. He watched in horror as i delivered my baby girl and after a few minutes the placenta came. he yelled "oh my god theres ANOTHER one!" the nurses cracked up, it was the cutest thing. And he still wants to watch this baby be born.

When I was pregnant with DD2 we were in Target and looking at the pool toys. DS (not quite 4 at the time) pointed to some diving rings and asked if we could get them. I asked why and he said "so I have something to play with when I'm in the birth tub with you in the family room! You know, when the baby comes out of your vulva!" I laughed and told him that I was sorry, but there wasn't going to be anyone else in the birth tub with me when the baby was born. He was very disappointed.

When I was in the birth tub, my midwife started chatting with dd#1, who was 3.5 at the time.

"Do you remember when you were born?" midwife asked.

"Yes", replied dd.

"What do you remember about it?"

"It was slimy."

yep, that's about right...

Um, this is bad, but the other night my ds (who is turning 5 tomorrow!!!!) asked me which way his brother would come out. I said, "Well, his head is supposed to come out first." He said, "Well, I think he's going to be born with his hand coming out first." Lets hope not lol!

I was anticipating that he'd be with us at the birth (which is not going to happen now ) So anyway, I thought it would be helpful to watch some animals give birth for a start (he missed the births of our sheep and goats this year) So we got on youtube. It was funny how facinated he was with it. We started with goats and sheep then he wanted to watch horses and pigs and puppies etc.... He brought up the pig birth again later. "Baby pigs come out fast don't they?" Of course the pig we watched was on like her 12th baby so it came popping out lol

My 3 year old DD insisted on showing her new little brother her toy cars when he was just born. She raced a car across the floor then asked if he liked it. "Of course dear, he loves it."
