Rice bags...

Do you think I could make them out of bamboo socks? I keep reading to only use cotton, but bamboo is a natural fabric, too...which got me wondering.

Thoughts?

These would be gifts so I don't want them burning someone's microwave, yk?

What do you mean by socks? If you mean the kind that you wear on your feet, then I've noticed that they get very badly stretched out. I've never tried it with bamboo. Could you just sew up a cotton bag and fill that with rice? As for the bamboo, try putting it in the microwave for the amount of time you think it would take to heat up (1-2 mins) and see what happens.

BTW- you can fill your bags with popcorn kernels for cold bags if you have sports people on your list.

Yes, socks you wear. I can only handsew so it's the easiest way around making a full bag - cut off the feet and sew that end...then sew the top. It works for the people in my home so I figure it will work for the preschool teachers too.

Yeah, I suppose making one and trying it at home makes sense. Off to see...
