HI there.. mom of 3 looking for info re: the law, bf'g and AP support...

Got some great people from Dr Sears.com and API (Attachment Parenting International) to refer me to this wonderful resource and group of women.....

I am currently going through a divorce and here's a quick synopsis of the stats in my situation....

Been married 7 yrs to a very abusive man. I have bf all 3 of my children and been a stay at home parent for at least the last 5 yrs
Have a daughter from a previous relationship 12 yrs old (bf until 18 mo) and 2 boys from my DH 26 mo (bf until 13 mo and while still preg w/my 7 mo old) and 7 mo (birth until present) respectively. I beleive in and have regualrly practiced attachmnet parenting, including co-sleeping, baby-wearing, baby-led solids, nursing on demand and being the primary caregiver, as I have been a stay at home parent and only real healthy parent in thier lives.

After finally filing a restraining order in late August, the judge has steadily allowed visitation with both boys...DH even threatened to file for divorce if I adjourn the matter at the TRO hearing............I did adjourn and he did file for divorce, ultimatley getting out of a DV charge. Now, he is trying to get 50% parenting time with my boys, meaning every weekend and/ or 3.5 days in a row at a time every wk.

So far the level of his abuse continues as the case proceeds and it has been very clear that his time used to visit with my 7 mo old has been used to give him formula, introduce solids and continually manuveur his manipulating into leverageing these things to force me to wean my child, including getting overnights as soon as Nov 20th......for both children. Both have not been overnight away from me ever, and the 7 mo old has never been away from me for more than an hour at a time...

I have been on Attachment Parenting International and found some good info, as well as finding info re: the law on LLLI site and Dr. Sears, etc....

This has been keeping me up on and off for months. His abuse continues to affect me and the children and will subsequently affect the kids as the bf and attachment relationship i share with my children....

Can anyone help with info, resources, advice or support re: issues such as this, specific to my situation. Where should I /could I post this on here that would be of most help?

kindly loving (((HUGS))) - R

Do you have an attorney who is knowledgable and supportive of your situation? Is your abuse well documented? Photos, hospital/dr. visits, police calls/visits/arrests?

Have you contacted La Leche League in your area (they have a reference to an AP/breastfeeding friendly lawyer) or checked out LLLI's website? Here's a place to start:

Good luck,

Nice meeting you - welcome to MDC!

Try the lactivism forum here on MDC, there should be others who've been in a similar place.
I've also read about an organization "firstright" here on MDC, they seem to be knowledgable about BF and the law. (The cases mentioned here were about NIP from what I remember but it doesn't hurt to ask. I'd try them and work from there.)
My heart goes out to you - good luck!
