I just wanted to post a quick positive note, because I have struggled so long with doctors telling me my pubic arch was small, or too narrow, and that is why my first baby who was posterior, after a 28hr labor at home, ended in a cesarean.
I was nervous and scared going into my second pregnancy. I did everything I could to have a healthy body and baby going into this labor. I walked, I swam, I did yoga, I ate a super healthy diet, I did a million pelvic tilts/rocks/squats, hoping for a shorter labor, good positioning, and a smaller baby,(my first was 8lbs).
Well, this little guy was 8lbs and 10ounces! Drug-free, vaginal delivery! Just shy of a 5 hour labor. My water broke at 2:30am, I called my midwife and doula and made a plan to arrive at the hospital no later than 8am. Well, I thought we better get going at around 4am because the contractions were strong. I was 9cm by 4:40am! And pushing by 6am. He was born at 7:13am.
Everyone in my room was awesome! The nurses were super supportive, my midwife was amazing, the doctor on call was super positive, gave me the quick VBAC risk shpeal, but supported me the rest of the way, and my husband and doula were great as well. My husband even caught the baby and I was able to see the entire birth of this beautiful being come into this world through the mirrors on the ceiling. It was amazing! My body did it! It's the most empowering experience I have ever had.
