Babywearing products?

What products do/did you use and like the best?

I'm 8 mos. pregnant, and I'm looking for a few options. I have a sling, but was also thinking that it would be nice to have a wrap.

Thanks!

I had a sling (Maya Wrap ring sling) and a Babyhawk Mei Tai (old style). Both of them got a tremendous amount of use. I actually carried my small-ish 4YO for a half hour walk in the Mei Tai this summer, and made dinner with her on my hip in the Maya Wrap just a week ago. (That being said, I mostly stopped using them around the time she was 3.)

I found that the Maya Wrap was better when she was a younger babe and the Babyhawk when she was older, mostly because I didn't love the front carry with the Mei Tai. I also found that the Maya served me well for short stints (eg, quick runs into the grocery store) for quite a long time.

I'm pregnant again, and if money allows, I think I'm going to get a Moby Wrap to add to the mix this time.

I had a woven wrap with ds 1. I loved it and used it alll the time. There were times I wished I had a ring sling (had a padded one in the beginning that I didn't like). It would have been easier to pop him in and out of or do quick hip carries when he was tired of walking. I also wanted an Ergo or structured carrier of some sort for dh and when I didn't want the wrap hanging in the wet/snowy weather.
So now with ds 2 on the way, I have my wrap, a maya ring sling, and an Ergo (my best friend generously got for me)

I have a maya wrap that we used when the baby was tiny, but I don't recommend it because it slipped all the time (the rings didn't really hold) and because it hurt my back eventually. I am definately getting a moby wrap next time around. We also have an ergo, which we love, but we never tried the infant insert, just waited until the baby was bigger. The ergo, in my opinion, is a must have. I have heard that the baby bjorn hurts the baby's spine, plus the baby is facing out which can be a little overwhelming for a little one. It's much nice to snuggle up with mama (or papa) in an ergo.

I loved the Moby for a tiny one- not as much as they grew heavier, though I had a friend who used it with her toddler as it was the LO's favorite.

The ergo for an older baby/toddler.

Also enjoyed a woven wrap for a long carry and a pouch for quick trips.

Here's what I did:
A Moby for newborn stage, a Babyhawk mei tai from about 4 months and up, an Ergo for when they get heavier. Also a pouch sling for a carrying an older baby/toddler on my hip for short periods of time.

I have a ring sling but my favourite is my Sleepy wrap that I just bought; dd loves it. It's great for a newborn

Personally, I loved my Ergo....I didn't wan't to be bothered with all the loops and miles of material. I know many love the other wraps but I like a structured one.

For the newborn stage we had a ring sling & LOVED it. I then made a stretchy wrap & used it for a short time but weight wise (ds) I kind of missed the window for the usefulness of that one. Now we have an ergo & it is awesome! We also have a structured backpack type carrier that does get some use.

Check over in the babywearing area - there is lots of info there.

I have everything. LOL. It's all really old, but I still use it for my daycare kids.

I have a gauze wrap. http://wombfruits.blogspot.com/

and a gypsy mama wrap. http://www.gypsymama.com/

Both are great for our Phoenix weather. But, the wombfruit is much lighter for the hot days.

I have a SUPER old Ergo. It's just OK. It makes my back hurt though. But, this thing is probably the first ever edition. http://www.ergobabycarrier.com/

I have slings and pouches. They are Ok, but not my favorite.

Then, I have my very old babyhawk. It's soft, and pretty, and perfect. I wouldn't ever want a newer one cuz I love this one so much. http://www.babyhawk.com/

I didn't get a moby until my (small) baby was 6 months old. He's 9 months now (still small) and we use it a lot.
I really want a mei tai for xmas though. like really really. A friend has one that has a little rain hood you can flip up if you need it. love it.
we had a pouch sling (hotsling, i believe) when he was a newborn and he didn't really like it. I made him another pouch sling when he was a little bigger and he liked it a little more, but I'd go moby for a newborn. The "miles of material" are really not that bothersome. It takes less than a minute to get on, once you get the hang of it. It comes with a photo illustrated instruction book and 7 different ways to wear it.

I have a moby, a babyhawk mei tai, and an Ergo. They've all had their uses. I find the mei tai to be the most versatile. The moby is great for the infant months, and I used it up until DS was about six months old. Don't believe the back wrap you *can* do with it though - it's hard to do and super uncomfortable. There's a great high-back carry you can do with a non-stretchy wrap, but you can also do one with a mei tai. The Ergo is nice, but I find it less comfy and not as easy to use as the mei tai. I can get DS on my back with the mei tai in half the time it takes me in the Ergo. Plus, I've read in several places that the mei tai is more comfortable on moms with narrower shoulders, while the Ergo suits moms with wider shoulders (which explains why DH prefers the Ergo while I prefer the mei tai).

I had a baby bjorn before i knew better but hardly ever used it, i didnt start carrying ds a lot till he was 6 months old when i got a ring sling. i then bought a Mei Tai and a Wrap because i really enjoyed wearing him.
the Mei Tai is so easy to use and we've carried a "normal" sized 4 year old in it. the wrap i love cos of its versatility.
i have also ordered a suse's mama babywearing jacket for when this baby comes

Thanks, ladies!

I think I'm going to try the moby wrap.

I have a sling, so I'm sure I'll use that too, and then was the little one gets bigger, I might try something else, too.

I can't wait to the little guy to get here!
