Best, affordable composter?

I'm in the market for a composter and it seems like the rotating kind are the best (opinions on this?). I can't find one locally. Any suggestions for the best, affordable composter?

Thanks!

subbing... I started my first pile this year, and I *really* suck at turning it... so I'm interested in getting a tumbler too.

Too bad I'm right in the middle of both of you - I've got a tumbler for sale!

Good luck on your search.

Rotating composters do work quickly. However, unless you make it yourself, they can be rather pricey.

We had to find an enclosed solution to replace our lazy man's compost pile (white dog + compost = dirty, stinky compost dog). I came across a compost bio-reactor that you can make yourself using trash cans. Ours has been in use for about a month now. So far, no useable compost. However, considering that our lazy man compost takes at least 6 months to produce useable product, I need to be patient

We have two groundhog condos, I mean SoilSavers. Theoretically, they're working great, I just have to shovel the debris back in every couple days.

I recommend something which is considered rodent-proof. Ours is open on the bottom, which is great for getting worms and microbes. It also gives the groundhog a sheltered buffet. Initially, the groundhog opened the door, which was nice and considerate. . . . but now there's a tidy little tunnel, eliminating the need for Mr. Fat and Chubby to knock before entering.

Oh, well, that fat critter's turning the compost for me, right? Right?

LOL, until Mr. Fat and Chubby decide to take a corn cob buffet on the road and share them with each of your neighbors' yards! I got in big trouble two years ago when the raccoons did that to ours
