Cat peeing in my plants!

Thread Starter
My cat (8 years old, fixed) just started to use my house plants as places to go potty. Her box is clean and nothing about it has changed. Nothing has changed in the house except me being pregnant and her now acting like my shadow and flipping out if she is not allowed to be near me.

So big potted plants, how can I clean these? Try and dump what ever soil I can and refill and then what? Maybe try and put some packing tape sticky side up in the pots or?

I need help! Kitty is staying with us forever obviously but how can I fix this?

There are a few ways to keep her out of the plants. The easiest one, IME, is to put a bunch of toothpicks poking up out of the soil about an inch apart. Or you could cover the dirt with aluminim foil. A bit more expensive but a lot more attractive is to put decorative rocks/pebbles all over the surface of the dirt. Toothpicks and pebbles don't affect ease of watering, but aluminum foil can be a bit of a PITA.

As for the current state of the plants, you might want to transplant them.
