History of Sever Nausea and Vomiting/Hyperemesis-come on in! - Page 3

Ugh, here it comes. In spite of being able to eat a real dinner (tho small), and thinking that I'd make it thru the night, I can feel the night time nausea coming on now. I just was feeling hungry and thinking about getting a snack, even tho mama warned me about eating after 7:30 to ward off the sickness . . . ACK! I don't want to fight this every night. It's very discouraging. I hope that it goes away and I can sleep tonight. I don't want a repeat of last night's 3am puking incident. Plus, I really enjoyed dinner! and was feeling like I might actually be getting some nutrition from it. Guess all I can do is wait and see. Sigh.

Fennel Oil - SERIOUSLY

fennel oil is saving my life.

i'm positive if i had an ob (and i took pharmaceuticals) i would be on some chemical right now.

i have severe all-day-and-all-night nausea, i can barely stand up straight, i spend all day laying in the bath and getting out to puke. i cannot even tolerate people talking about food in my presence because i will vomit.

i started sniffing the fennel oil and my nausea has abated. yeah, i still feel sick, but as soon as i take a whiff, i feel normal and not pukey.

it's like $6 at the health food store.

Okay, I'm sold. It will be in my possession tomorrow asap!

I want to eat and rest again! SOB! Not to mention hanging out with my little girl and being able to do the dishes or laundry.

Well, our local health food store did not carry fennel oil. I am sad about that, but I'm noticing a pattern in my nausea---basically I feel horrible until aroun 3-5 pm, then I get a window of energy and appetite where I can eat and live normally. So for now, I'm happy with my night life, even tho a lot of our family stuff (mainly housework) is suffering because I'm out of commission during the day.

I was officially diagnosed with hypermesis today. I went to my GP to tell him he needed to do something for me, and we discussed what was happening. I've been a right mess for the last several weeks. He was also quite surprised that I wasn't diagnosed properly with my DS.

Right now, I'm on a full dosage of diclectin (8 pills a day) and I have an appointment to see my OB next Thursday. I've been written off work in the meantime, and told to just take it easy.

Has anyone else experienced severe diarrhea while having M/S? I mentioned it to my doctor but he didn't seem super concerned. I've had it for going on 5 days now, and it's not getting any better at all. Anyone BTDT?

teale, I'm so sorry. Hope you start feeling better. No insight on the diarrhea. Maybe you have a stomach bug on top of it?

ScarletBegonias, I went out hunting for fennel oil last night and came up empty-handed. Ironically, mid-way through my shopping trip at the co-op, I sprinted to the bathroom (just b/c I had to go to the bathroom), and ended up spending about 10 minutes throwing up. Blech, not pleasant.

Overall, things seem to be getting a bit better & I seem (knock on wood) to be avoiding HG this time around. It's a relief - but that fear of HG is still ever-present. Every time the nausea kicks in, I immediately am sure that I'm headed for another 10 weeks of puking...

Feeling your pain, ladies. BTDT, 3 times.

I can not do it again. Can not. PTSD from it all, as some of you are well aware.

My youngest is 2. Just wanted to send some support.

Here I am at 10weeks 2 days and feel awful. I only have 2 phen and 2 zofran left. I have a feeling I'll be making a visit to the hospital to get more this weekend. I don't know why they only give me 10 at a time with out a refill and I have to take them every 6 hours or closer to keep from throwing up every 30 minutes.

I'm so over this! Thankfully I only have two more full 1st shifts to work and then I'm back to two evenings a week. But I'm finding I'm feeling worse the later it gets. I'm in bed a sleep by 8pm to avoid it. But working 2nd means working from 3-11pm.

I'm at work right now, I get off at 11 this morning thankfully. I'm still not sure how I'm going to manage the dishes from the breakfast bar as I'm the only one at the hotel right now (other than the guest). I have no clue what's on the breakfast bar right now I refuse to make anymore food. People just need to get out of here and go to their family's houses. It's Christmas for crying out loud, don't eat the nasty junk here! Go eat pancakes and real eggs.

Coffee still helps, but only a little bit. It seems to get things moving in the right direction a little more

Out of 9 pregnancies I've had HG three times. First, seventh and eighth. The rest were varying degrees of NVP. My current baby, I've done fairly well with a strict regimen of meds and proactively and when I could eat, ate protein. Lots and lots of protein.
I had a midline and home health until 18 weeks with #7.
A zofran pump until 19 weeks and a PICC until 17 with #8.
I was completely undiagnosed and untreated with #1.
I was sure this pregnancy would be the end of me. I feel very lucky/blessed I have done so well. I am 14 weeks today and only occasionally need some benadryl and maybe a little phenergan. If I didn't have 8 other children and could rest more I doubt I would even need that.
Anyone who wants to talk about home health, IV's, PICC's, pumps, zofran side effects, different drug regimens etc...I'm more than happy to help. I can give you a very long list of natural/diet/non-drug remedies for NVP but if you have HG I have found they are fairly useless. In combination with aggressive pharm therapy and hydration support they can help but all alone? Not for HG.

Do you still have your gall bladder? I had wicked dumping syndrome/bile salt diarrhea with my last when the HG was at its worst. Made NO sense as that is usually triggered by eating too much fat but it happened. Only thing worse than peeing yourself while you vomit is to have diarrhea.

But, it may be that it was a little bit more gradual onset - I just cannot remember!

Right now, I'm still experiencing what I think is normal pregnancy nausea. It's on and off all day, and stays pretty manageable if I eat every hour or so. With waves of ick that make me want to curl up in a fetal position.

Did you ever experience a gradual onset of HG, or was it WHAM all at once?
I tend to feel a bit queasy here and there for the first 6 weeks and then within about 72 hours right at 6 weeks I go from a little green to absolutely miserable. 6 weeks has always been my personal break point.

yes 6 weeks for me too. Now at 12 I feel like it's one step forward two steps back. I have days where I feel ok and don't vomit or only vomit once or twice then a day or so later it is back to business. I am hoping that as we are approaching the 2nd trimester things will even out a bit. The only thing that has been helping is fatty high protein foods. I always crave fat during this point I think I am trying to make up for what I am losing. I am naturally tall and thin so losing weight gets concerning quickly. This time I have managed to gain a little with my not so healthy diet.

I am feeling bad about the diet thing but every time I eat veggies they are up within 20 minutes. Very weird. I figure I will make up for it when I am feeling better.

That is very typical. Nothing green passes my lips from 6-12 weeks and just the thought of a vegetable or salad makes me gag. At best a couple pieces of granny smith apple. May be pregnancy blasphemy but you'd be surprised how many HG'rs have McDonald's cheeseburgers on their short 'safe food' list.

Recovery from HG/NVP for me is exactly what you describe, two steps forward one step back. It is a much slower progression towards feeling good then it is on the other end from feeling good to feeling bad. It only takes days for me to go from OK-laid out flat but weeks to go from laid out flat to functional again.
