at what age did you start your TF baby on grains/legumes?

I know it's not recommended to feed babies grains or legumes before 12 months of age. My DS is almost a year and I am really wanting to feed them to him as we have a pretty limited diet due to food intolerances and eat a lot of GF grains and legumes, and I don't have much to feed him when we eat those things besides potatoes, meat, and pears! Ideally I would hold off until more like 18 months but I just don't see that as being very practical...but I don't want to make him more prone to food intolerance than he already is, either, by feeding foods that he isn't ready for.

I started her after her first birthday, and went slow introducing one at a time over a period of months. I started with all the GF grains so she didn't actually have any wheat etc. til later.

With my first two, I started right around 6 months (not knowing any better). This time I intend to start around a year, but hold off on wheat longer than that. (We rarely have wheat anyway, so it shouldn't be an issue.)

I started a lot earlier--I think he was eating beans and grains at 9 months? He also has multiple food sensitivities (including gluten, dairy, soy and corn) so I don't know that it was the best plan...

Have you tried fermented foods (cultured veggies, juice kefir--made w/ kefir grains in a juice your child tolerates)? And nutrient dense meats like liver and mineral rich bone broth? If I were to do it again, I think these would be things I'd want to intro first to support the gut and hopefully avoid or heal any gut issues...

As legumes are considered a "traditional" food in the Greek diet, I started giving lentils to my baby at six months (following the advice of my naturopath, a Weston Price follower). By the age of one my son was enjoying all kinds of legumes!
As for grains, I did not give any during the first year, and after that only organic brown rice. Now, at 27 months, he's also eating quinoa and millet along with some organic sprouted wheat bread.
I must say that he's an extremely healthy toddler (haven't been to a doctor since the age of 8 months) and I thank Dr. Weston Price and my naturopath for this

I think meats, potatoes and pears sound better than grains, although I would do the legumes if properly prepared. I think ferments would go on the list for me, too.
I would skip the grains, though!

We started my DD out on some grains once she was a year old.

She loves my homemade breads (spelt, cinnamon raisin, banana pumpkin, etc.). Last night she LOVED taking bits of her bread and using it to soak up chicken stock from some soup I made and eating it. Such a good way to get stock into her!
