older dog losing clumps of fur....need advice...

there are lots of flakes coming off on the clumps of hair...the has a big bald spot on her back between her shoulders.

She has had allergies/ear infections....she recently had a cough for months which just seems to have cleared up finally but now her skin is really unhappy again.

She has the clumps coming out and it cleared up and now it is back worse than before.

She is on a grain free diet, she is allergic to grains, they seemed to cause the ear infections.

I did have her on Nettle

and Usually mix in Olive Oil, Acidopholis powder, CoQ10, yucca and devils claw for her hips and some Vitamineral green

she gets raw meat and veggies often also

Any thoughts on what I can do for her mamas?

thank you

I would do fish oil instead of the olive oil personally. That way you get the benefit of Omega 3, which are a natural anti-inflammatory and a lot of people find that fish oil helps with skin and coat also. The "maintenance" dose for fish oil is 1000 mg (that's usually one capsule) per 30 lbs of dog's weight, but for health issues you can go up to 1000 mg per 10 lbs of weight - that's what I would do in your case. Start with 1 capsule per day and increase every 2-3 days until you get to the desired dosage.

Not sure what kind of veggies you are using, but perhaps something in there could be causing an issue? Also I'd consider thyroid testing:

I think Dr. Jean Dodds has the most comprehensive testing that you can send blood in for: http://www.hemopet.org/services.html
