May '09 Mama's Giving Thanks - Page 4

Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving! We did! I am avoiding the Black Friday shopping.....

Griffin is a mellow fellow. He turned 7 months yesterday. He is working on his 4th and 5th teeth. He is nursing a lot at night but not really waking. I just feel sore by morning. He crawls, pulls up, and is standing independantly for a few seconds at a time. He wants to be standing ALL DAY LONG. He pulls up on the back of my legs holding onto my pants which makes it really hard to do anything in the kitchen!! hehe. My 3 yr old is always knocking him over it seems. But it doesn't keep him from pulling right back up. He is 19 pounds! (Which is what his brother was at a year)

He enjoys a few solids. Mostly banana and avocado.
I'm just soooo thankful that he is an easy baby because his brother continues to be difficult and has been since birth.

I haven't been around in a while.

Addie is doing great, weight is finally slowing down at 24 lbs, tasted solids, but not a big fan, teething hardcore, but no teeth yet/

Here is a recent pic:

I haven't been around much either.

Darcy will be 7 months old tomorrow. Oh my, how time has flown!. She now weighs 15lbs, which we're terribly pleased with since she's been gaining weight so slowly (her birth weight was 10lbs 8oz). Starting solids helped a lot ... it really reduced the amount of vomiting she was doing .... so for that and various other reasons we're doing purees instead of BLW.

She's rolling both directions really well, sitting up unassisted for short periods (with me or a pile of cushions or a boppy behind her) and loves to spin herself in circles on the floor. She's not crawling yet, thank goodness - I'm busy enough chasing her big brother all around the place. She'll stand up if we hold both her hands and thinks she's terribly clever. She's clapping, and babbling 'mamama' and 'bababa'. She also gurgles in the back of her throat and squeals when she laughs.

She has 2 teeth on the bottom, which came through on her 6 month birthday. No sign of more yet, but I'm sure they'll be here soon enough.

She's generally a pretty placid, happy little babe, although clingy at the moment. Her sleep is dreadful! Up all night, late to bed, early to rise, short catnaps during the day. I'm so tired that I keep falling asleep while I'm sitting up breastfeeding her at night. I can't seem to master side-lying nursing - my breasts are large and I have to twist myself backwards so that the nipple doesn't face into the mattress, then my hips have to twist forwards to stop me falling over and voila - awkwardness. I do it sometimes when I'm really tired, but wake up feeling like an 80-yr old woman hobbling around, so it's not ideal.

Will post some pics when I download them off my camera/phone.

Wanted to be sure you got my response, Peppermint Poppies, so Im posting it here
Solution to sidelying with those problems: a body pillow shoved behind your back to prop you half-up. It was a lifesaver with DS2.
