why does my flour always get bugs in it? what are the bugs? am i doomed to never have a big bag of flour in my kitchen? cause seriously, if i dont have it in a sealed container, these stupid little bugs get in there. and it doesnt take long either. like within a week and my bag of flour is ruined. yes i could get a container for it (i will eventually). but for now, can someone tell me what they are?

Flour weevils/beetles. You need to chuck everything flour or cereal based and thoroughly disinfect the cupboards.

It is my understanding that often the eggs of the bugs are in there when you buy it. If buying a lot of grain often I would freeze it for a while and then take it out to kill the eggs. However, you can also have an infestation and that is hard to eliminate.

i dont ever see them in anything else. they dont get into my malt o meal, or oatmeal. they dont appear when i put it in plastic bags either. i have bombed my house and still i get them. they are tiny like fruit flies. like fleas. once they got into my pancake mix.

so flour weevils sound right. i did google it. i am going to get rid of all my flour and cereal products until i can get some plastic storage things for them.
