Hi Everyone, my name is Lou and my partner is Vicky. We have a beautiful 6 month old baby girl named India. We are attachment parenting (I exclusively breastfed for the first six months and now have introduced Baby Led Weaning/Solids but hope to continue breastfeeding as long as my little girl wants, we coseep and babywear etc). We attend a local attachment parenting playgroup and have met some lovely mums and kids but most of the people I know including all but one in my Mother's Group are not doing AP and it can be a little tiring having to explain over and over why we do or dont do certain things. For example all the other mum's in our group are doing CIO and I dont believe CIO is necessary, in fact I believe it to be damaging to a baby but I am constantly being questions by these friends and family members as to why I dont just put my bub in a cot and let her cry. Anyway I hope to make some new friends on here who view things in a similar way to myself and my partner

I am from Australia, but unfortunately currently suffocating in the suburbs of NJ, USA! Long story!! BUt all good. Congrats on little India! As a Mum of 4, the only advice I have is to not feel like you need to justify your position unless you feel you want to. Deflect and have them justify their position if they want to.

Where i am right now, most people think I am nuts for half of my parenting choices. I just try to show them the same respect for their parenting choices that I wish they would afford me! It does not always work, but I try! And I have stopped hoping or having expectations that people will be on the same page as me!

Welcome to MDC! There are many wise mamas on here and I am sure you have much wisdom to share as well!

Thanks for the advice. I do think you are right. It is just hard sometimes when people around you try to draw you into "discussions" where really they are just trying to tell you what you should do with your baby!!!
