Family cloth pics here!
I'm so thrilled. It looks great, it feels great, and now I won't have a mishmash of wipes a friend made me and some cut up t-shirts. I finished about 2 dozen so far today and will have a total of about 6 dozen--all from just one yard of each flannel. I prefer smaller wipes. I cut them 3.5 x 4.5 inches, sewed about 1/2 an inch around the inside, then pinked the edges.
I wipe with the dark side and store them in my basket with the pretty side up. I have always kept my wipes where people can see them, as well as the pretty jar I put them in to be dumped into a bucket for the laundry. Close friends know what it all is; no one else has ever asked. I think I'm glad for that!
But if anyone did ask, I'd just say they're personal wipes and leave it at that. I'm by far the crunchiest person I know in real life, most people around me just don't even realize it, lol.
As for washing, I put my used wipes in a pretty ceramic jar I found at a thrift store. Once a day or so I empty that into a cat litter bucket with a lid on it. I also use cut up clothing as tissues, and those go in the bucket as well. I have a basket for towels, wash cloths, and rags and when that's full enough to make a load, I also wash the bucket of wipes with it--I wash it all in hot water. BTW, I have no issues with smells, even with #2 wipes. I do toss a bit of baking soda into the wipe jar once a week or so just to make sure.
I hope this encourages someone to try family cloth or maybe to sew their own if they like.

Thanks for the compliment, BTW.
about ordering a coffee mug with the picture of the used wipes!! That is funny!

The bad thing is, the edges frayed a lot on the ones I used and washed. I was hoping that pinking the edges would keep that from happening much but it was worse than I hoped. I was especially displeased with purple fluff all over the rest of the load. So now I get to use the seam ripper on all of them and resew them, oh joy! It will be a pain and they'll end up smaller than I'd like but I'm not scrapping $8 of flannel--besides, I want them, they're so cute!
