Fleece confusion

I am not new to Cdimg but I AM new to making my own covers etc.
I wonder if anyone can tell me a few things about fleece covers?
Even though they have no waterproof layer, are they good at containing the liquid? (pee)
Do they have to be double later or is a single layer as good?
I have read in several places that Malden Mills fleece is the best to use. How come regular fleece bought at the fabric store isn't good enough? What would be the difference?
I made one out of a microfleece bought at Joanns, double layered, as an experiment and it was kinda wierd. It felt like my son's pants were damp but the outside of the fleece cover still felt dry DId they maybe leak or is this because the fleece is the wrong type an it basically ran straight through the fleece to his clothes?
I don't know, I guess I'll order some Malden mills. Oh, which weight do I get? 100, 200 or 300? So many questions.....

Malden mills is the most water resistant. I use Joanns fleese and just use 2 layers they will feel damp after the dipe gets satuarated but if you have 2 covers to rotate threw and then wash at the end of the day it works great. I dont put clothes on my dd when she wears a fleece cover cause they do wick, but are more breathable that pul. I dont know what weight to get but I think the higher the number the better

Sometimes you'll have compression leaking with fleece, and I've found it happens more with the kinds you can get at the fabric store than with Malden Mills covers I have.
I've also heard that some people have found that using a liquid fabric softener with their fleece covers, when having leaking problems, find it helps them work better. So you could try that out too.

I think a 200 weight fleece is more of 'daytime' cover weight, while the 300 would be nighttime (and could be rather bulky).
