Holding pee

My dd is 10 months old and in the last month has really started holding her pees. I have always had a very active bladder, even pre-kids, and don't typically go more than 2 hrs w/out going pee. Dd has been holding it for 2, 3, 4 hrs or sometimes longer (during the day) w/out going. Of course sometimes she goes 15-30 min. afte she just went but lately that is rare and the long stretches are more common. I am offering every time I go (and sometimes more) so she has the option. It just seems like an awfully long time and I want to make sure nothing is wrong. She stays dry most nights. Maybe she is just blessed w/ a way stronger/bigger bladder than mine

Is her dairy intake less than yours out of curiosity? Some reading I've done indicates that night peeing especially could be connected.

But as for your actual question, if she pees a lot when she does and it's clear, it's fine.

My LO pees less frequently than I do! She is older than your dd, but she has been able to hold it for a long time, for a long time! That's one of the great things about EC, I'm learning.

I have tons of food allergies so I don't do dairy at all and won't be introducing it to dd in any form until she is over 2 or 3 so that definately isn't it.
When she does pee it is a decent ammount but not a ton. First thing in the morning it is a ton and forceful. Other times it can vary as to how much pee. It is usually a lighter to mid yellow, not clear but not dark, and it doesn't smell.

I was hoping that this was a normal ec thing. If this keeps up her life will be a lot easier than mine.
We went on a 4 1/2 hr road trip. We stopped to pee her once. I went 3 times

Nicole- I never thought of that, but the ability to hold it as a tiny person is an awesome and probably will make their lives easier down the road! The more I travel this EC road, the more awesome I think it is!

then definitely not that.

Hmm, you'd notice if you were that pregnant.

Go baby sphincter!

Oh, and by "a lot" I actually meant as opposed to a tiny dribble. Sorry about that.

thanks for the replies.

Wasn't sure what you meant by a lot. Yes it is definately more than a trickle.

Hi there,

I EC'd our youngest daughter, and there were moments I really worried that she was holding up too long, and that this might be not good for her. But actually, that has never been a problem to her. My guess is that EC'd babies learn how to *fully* empty their bladder, which means that it takes a while before the alarm amount is reached again...
I remember when DD was about 3 months, and she'd been dry for over 5 hours. I worried sick, and was running to whatever toilets possible, but no, she just didn't need to go... yes, after the 5 hours, right after a nap she did, she suddenly started to cry very hard, and I ran ran to whatever nearest bathroom there was... we even waited in line because there was a queue ;-), and only when I undressed her and kept her over the toilet she would go... but you should have seen the relief on that little baby face. I never knew that babies could get sooooo happy after a pee ;-).
