I'm not pregnant yet(hopefully), just a little upset at my last birth, and hoping to make the next one awesome. I'm hoping for a HB or UC. The HB/BC MW is an hour away, and i've never met her before. I dont like anyone in the room besides DH when i labor. I'm dreaming of a UC over here, really. If it doesnt cost a ton, and the mw will agree to it, i'd love a "mw on standby in the living room UC" but, if we need to transfer, i worry that the nearest hospital(non-mw friendly) would totally suck. so i'm also wondering if i should go with the OB, esprcially if the mw doesnt come through. we're not ready for UP yet.
so, what i'm wondering is, how would you prepare for a UC?i mean, i have the laboring thing down, but what about delivery, and post partum? i.e. emergency...
i suppose any materials would be very similar to any HB kit(minus MW supplies like gloves, etc...) but what else? i imagine that a CPR class would be very useful for me and DH, and certain herbs(i currently have no knowledge of herbs and what they do, but i've heard they can be especially useful. would you also get a doppler? i hear you can rent these from a hospital, correct? and a newborn scale(especially valuable in case we have weight gain issues like last time. i hate going to the pediatrician, and going at less than a week pp is no exception.)
