Lactation should be well established by then, so you don't need to worry about establishing supply. Many working mums prefer a mid-range double pump. I've heard great things about Ameda (and where I live they're actually cheaper than Medela), but at the end of the day what works for one mum may not work as well for another, and vice versa. By mid-range pumps, I mean pumps such as:
Ameda Elite and Ameda Purely Yours, Medela Lactina select, and Medela Pump in Style.
That said, when I went back to work, the first time I used an Avent Isis hand-held manual, and the second time I used a Medela mini electric. Both served my purposes perfectly well, were cheap and very easy to cart around, although if you have concerns about your supply you may prefer a more powerful model with more cycles per minute than a hand-held.
Good luck with your decision and your return to work!
Eta sorry, you didn't actually say it was you returning to work *duh me.*

I have both a Medela Pump-in-style (Original) and an Ameda Purely yours. My Medela is huge, old, and clunky and my Ameda is new, sleek, and small. But it was my Medela that I chose to take with me to work. The few times I've used my Ameda I end up with bleeding nipples and pain. The built-in battery pack doesn't work at all. The newer model Medelas are supposed to be even better. With rechargable batteries and it will keep track of how long you pump and all that. I'd go with the Medela any day.

w/dd I had a lactina rental, a pis and a PY.
the py was easy to carry but had a high pitched motor sound that I found annoying. (hey, I pumped 5x a day!) and I got 10% less milk w/it than my pis. (I kept spreadsheets).
my pis worked well but I was always freaked out about milk in tubes. and I got 10% less than my lactina.
the lactina worked the best, was expensive and a huge pia to cart around.
I also had issues w/ the flange size on the PY.
one of the nice things about the pis is the ability to get replacement parts in a wide variety of places. but the py is quite a bit cheaper....

I have both the Medela PISA and a Lansinoh double electric (same pump as Ameda PY).
I like them both equally as far as getting the milk out. I like Medelas flanges better so I rigged them up to the Lansinoh somehow (hey it worked!).
If I had to do it all over again, I'd stick with the Lansinoh (Ameda) because it's a lot cheaper. I got mine online for $125 and the Medela was about $205 WITH a coupon.
