OCM - oil cleansing method

Do you guys do it and if so, how? I'm considering trying it.

Yes! It's great! Since my skin is prone to dryness, I use about 5% castor oil to a blend of 95% olive and sunflower oils. I was skeptical at first about using super-hot water on the washcloth, but it really does get the job done! My face has never been clearer! I highly recommend trying it.

I use a mix of jojoba oil and EVOO. I only do the OCM twice a week though, as more than that is too much for my skin. I rub it into my skin for a minute or two, then steam with hot wet wascloth, then rinse.

The other days of the week, I wash with Kiss MY Face Olive Oil Soap, then witch hazel as a toner, and then the jojoba/EVOO mix as a moisturizer.

What do you mean by "too much for my skin"? What kind of skin do you have? I'm the acne-prone one looking for a moisturizer, and as much as i hate the thought of putting oils on my skin and leaving them there, i wonder if i should try jojoba/EVOO...?

OCM makes me break out, but when i get especially dry, and need to cleanse my face, i do it anyway b/c my skin feels so nice afterwards. So i, too, have taken to doing it about 1 or 2x/week.

My face was always acne-prone, even into my 20's, although by that time, it did clear up quite a bit. But still I was always on the oily side and I was afraid of putting oils on my face as well. I opted for jojoba since it's quite close the skin's natural oils, but I mixed it with the EVOO to make it easier to spread and also for all the good stuff of EVOO.

When I first started OCM, I was doing it almost every day. And even though it cleared up my skin very well, I would still find little pimples here and there. When I backed off on the amount of times I did it, those went away.

Now that I'm in my late 30s (eep!), I've started using the oils as a nighttime moisturizer, since they are heavier and my skin likes them. But you really only need a few drops to blend onto the skin. The heavier amount for the OCM massage along with the hot steam washcloth I think it is overdoing it to do everyday.

As I said on the other thread too, my DH is acne prone and he uses aloe vera gel as an aftershave lotion. I have used it too, when we travel because I'd rather not carry the oils and also because it's a lighter moisturizer for daytime use and makeup and such.

Hope that helps! But if I can make anything clearer, ask away!

I just stumbled on this thread. How does the oil cleaning method work? I used honey for a while, and that works well in the summer, but my skin is going crazy for the winter.
