Sleep Disruption

Can we talk about different causes of extremely frequent night waking? My 2.5yo was never a great sleeper. She used to go to bed at 8pm; wake up at 11pm to go potty and nurse; sleep until 4AM when she'd get up to potty and nurse; and then she'd sleep two more hours, with frequent waking (probably because my husband gets up at 4AM and we live in a small apartment). Ever since the time change, she wakes up about every half an hour. She sleeps fine for her 2hr nap. She isn't teething. She isn't sick. I'm not sure what to do, but I need to sleep more. Help?

Sometimes I wonder if it is ingrained - I wake up often at night when I shift position, etc. - it is just that I'm an adult and am able to go back to sleep without anyone knowing. In the same vien no one notices if I get up to pee twice or once in the night, kwim?

The every 1/2 hour must be exhausting for both of you though I'm sure.

For my DD the night wakings increased with;
Daddy snoring/getting ready in the a.m.
change in diet (turned out slight sensitivity to dairy)
growth spurt (she'd sleep a ton then very little at different growth stages)
ammount of pre-bed food (if she ate a HUGE dinner, she'd wake more as I guess she was digesting)
And we figured out she sleeps better on a firm/medium mattress (like me) but when my husband added a pillow top for a time, it bothered her.

anyone else have ideas of what has caused your child to wake up lots?
