St. Lucia Day

Thread Starter
I am loving all of these holiday threads!
Ok we are trying to fully celebrate St. Lucia day this year. We will make the buns, my oldest has a needle felted candle crown to wear and we will have a wreath with candles on the table. Btw, HOW MANY candles do we put on the wreath?
What else can we do to celebrate? Thanks!!

it is a good day to do a good dead for someone else or another family. that is one of the ways we celebrated last year.

i think there are 4 candles on the wreath.

I ordered this book and am hoping to get in a needle-felted crown. I am also thinking that will be the day that we put the electric candles in the windows of the house.

Thank you for the recipe. I have had almond flour in my freezer just waiting for me to finally do something with it. We are gluten-free too.

Do you know the songs that are sung? I remember the cutest girl walking with a white veil, along with her crown and candles at dd's preschool.

My friend sings santa lucia which is a song that is traditionally sung http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpP7heFjr0g. (sorry for the poor quality) Also, they make glogg which is delicious or you could substitute with mulled spiced apple cider.

Nicole,
I'd love to see a picture of your needle felted crown, if you don't mind!

Is it something you made yourself, or purchased somewhere?

Have you seen the most recent Living Crafts? There is a really lovely felt crown with candles.

ahh... that would be why I hadn't seen it. Living crafts is kinda tricky to find in my town... sometimes the local food co-op has it, some times they don't, so I haven't seen the latest one.

Now, I really want it though!

My copy came today - and i agree - the St Lucia's Day crown in there is LOVELY and perfect for smaller children rather then a wreath with real candles (all i can think about it dripping wax into their hair!)

Speaking of teh Living Craft Magazine... i saw the felt fruit baskets : lovely Nicole!!
