I have gotten halfway through a response more than once, Fern, but with both kids sick (and a sick husband!) this weekend, my online time is rather limited!

We're doing well. Our master plan of moving home back "home" on Vancouver Island is working, despite some bumps along the way. We just bought a house nearby and will move in at the end of April. A lovely house in a small village with a little yard and lots of trails and forest nearby. I started back to work from my maternity leave a few weeks sooner than planned when I was offered a temporary full-time contract teaching nursing at the local college. So I'm working full-time until the fall, and then we'll see. I'm trying to get back into my working groove and to find ways to do some work at home and still be a fun mama sometimes!!

Neela is terrific- she loves her preschool here and is getting excited about being in our own house. After much angst about kindergarten, we have settled on the community school near our new house- it has a good vibe and lots of parental/community involvement. The big unknown is that the kindergarten teachers will be changing, but we feel like we have done enough research about local homeschooling and distance schooling options, etc. that we can change our plan if need be.

Nora is running and climbing and turning into a whirlwind toddler (11 months today!). She exhausts me right now, but then gives me a big snotty kiss and I melt. I love the preschool years so much that on our harder days I look at Neela and remind myself that sleep deprivation doesn't last forever.

EEeeek! Fern! Congratulations!!!!

A new home and Banyan (is my memory right?) on the way? How wonderful

We moved into our new house over Easter weekend, and are working on getting unpacked. The kitchen, living room and kids bedroom are all functional, but just don't look in our bedroom or office. Or the garage filled with random boxes....

The girls have been terrific with the move. Nora turns one tomorrow. They're playing and having fun together as I grab a quick moment online, and found Fern's exciting update in my e-mail

thanks mel! and yes, banyan is right..

moving is exciting! getting all set up and nested with a
1 (happy birthday!!) & 4 year old is pretty hard.. we did it last year and i feel like we never really got settled here, but i guess i knew it was temporary which makes it harder. having your own place is an amazing feeling! i can't wait. i hope the rest of your settling goes smoothly.

where abouts on the island are you now? do you have garden space?

thanks for keeping in touch here, i really miss hearing how everyone is doing.

Yay, Fern! : Glad to hear your happy news! Keep us posted!

Congrats again on the new house, Mel- I hope you're settled in soon and without too much trouble!

Why don't I start a new spring thread...I don't know if anyone will join, but at least the 3 of us can check in!
